Severance this week was so good! The pacing, location, setting, and character development were all on point. Some might find it boring, but personally, I loved it. It's not about the puzzle box, it's about the story.

I didn't like it because it was plodding and directionless, it felt agonisingly slow for the sake of being dramatic rather than telling a story or actually finishing a plot point. I don't have any theories about this show as I refuse to watch tv in that way

I think a lot of boring people watch Severance because they want a well designed busybox that vindicates their pet theories and every time you remove the Apple Store ass sets and don’t vindicate their crushes or pet theories they act like a child that had a toy taken away from them.

I thought it was an interesting and ambitious concept for an episode but it didn’t work for me at all. I liked looking at it, liked the setting, the idea behind it etc, but the very quiet and personal middle act just sort of fuzzed out in my brain despite wanting to engage. Maybe a rewatch will hit.

The big issue with the latest episode to me is that the editing and writing are too restless for a slow episode like this to work. Not enough formal rigor to execute on something that truly feels meditative and contemplative
