PBS, Jon Stewart, Geopolitical content, etc.
MSM has become a disappointment for many, despite my wanting to trust a few exceptions (journos).
Cyn~
I blame football. And beer. And leaded gasoline.
Maybe provide users more clarity on what they are being fed?
IDK.
It’s happened before and will happen again. Prior generations were up to the challenge. Is this harder to deal with than the change written word to radio.
Reagan changed that.
The problem is that no one told the news viewers that news had become entertainment.
Sadly, people still don't realize this.
No, Reagan didn’t change that. The Fairness Doctrine, which you are referring to, didn’t address news, nor did it prohibit lies, “misinformation”, propaganda, etc.
The point of Reagan and Ailes and throw in Murdock. The word is "NEWS" and because of FD the masses believe it

The FD (despite what FD truthers have fooled themselves into believing) didn’t prohibit lies, “misinformation”, propaganda, etc. and wouldn’t have made Limbaugh change a thing about his show, nor required liberal shows to be carried.

SHAME!
bat$#!+ crazy person out there who pretends they are a news source.
What they are is just the latest iteration of the ding dong pundits cable news execs realized a long time ago are a cheap way to fill up air time.
(The "blocking the view of a Walmart parking lot" wasn't why they were denied, but the presence of Walmart makes that as good an explanation as the official one.)

Of course, the best "news" reporting happens on The Daily Show, Stephen Colbert, Seth Myers and Jimmy Kimmel, all on Youtube.
Is that bad? 🤔
:::cue eerie Casiotone histrionics:::
But given what's happened in the last 5 years or so to NYT, WaPo, LA Times, CNN, ABC News, NBC News and others, I'm certainly getting less of my news from them than I did two years ago.
There is a void.
What remains? Gossip and propaganda, sourced from those dying industries, and reinterpreted by bottom-feeders like this.
I slap them down immediately.
And it’s not just YouTube. I know people who think the shows Landman and Yellowstone are good sources for climate change and historical data.
Took me way too long to realize my Dad might've been a cynic.
When my fancy-pants doctor recommended getting a flu shot, I was all like "Oh, look at the big-shot 'expert' telling me what's what!"

What matters isn't getting reported, and the billionaires control everything we see.

I'm a pretty savvy consumer of info, including your interviews on YT with Bulwark, et al. I learn a lot from YT, way more than legacy media these days.
And it isn't regulated.
Go figure.
Just like almost all the places in this thread.
"So my solution is to listen to a Zoomer who can talk about Diddy for 3 hours straight without taking a breath."
Cleo Abram and Jonny Harris and a slew of others started on traditional media and have moved to YouTube or substack.
All that legacy media is good for is access and they bend the knee for it
See, we're finding each other! Truth will not be supressed!
I really think you're failing to grasp the gravity and consequences of what your pals Joe and Mika did.
This includes people like you who want to restrict people's right to protest, Tom.
And I don't fucking care. Let it burn.
But so much of the traditional news organizations are rolling over for Trump/Elon…
Bleak times.
PBS News Hour on YouTube. Is that bad?
America will only supply the world with chaos from now on.
