Yeah, if I see someone make a post like that about a movie I hate, I just let them enjoy things. If they're like, 'Did y'all love it or hate it?', then I throw in my 2 cents.
Most times if I vehemently disagree with someone I just divert that energy into writing a piece, and I feel like this space would be infinitely healthier if more people did that.
I'm reading a book combining the works of Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois and the juxtaposition makes it clear that DuBois's thesis is often "Washington is an idiot."
I've definitely written Letterboxd reviews that would've been much shorter had I not read a different review I disagree with.
I used to do the same back in Film Twitter (I left there in 2020). Why waste negative energy when you can just carry on? I preferred to champion the films I loved and if anyone liked that, good, and if not, their loss 💁🏾♂️😂
Then what is the actual point of being on social media?
How is that different then MAGA type safe spaces? Like, maybe being able to state a differing pov ABOUT A MOVIE is part of being a grown up in a grown up society.
You use it to engage, but only want engagement that says you are right?
Again, you're confusing discourse with having opinions, but don't want opinions that are against MOVIE opinions.
We need to ensure children stay offline, they are too fragile for differing movie opinions.

I'm not fond of Wes Anderson but at least there's some ambition there. I'm a F13 fanboy and critics hate them. 8 and 9 suck, though.

Let other people like what they like and be done with it!

I don’t lean on social media to educate myself.
