the word "hero" is used a lot, but good lord. imagine being this kind and generous and impactful.

You know who should've won an Oscar last night? The person who designed the little 'Gravity on / off' buttons in Alien Romulus.

I’ll have some thoughts coming later but this was a clips-starved Oscars. I want film clips and montages. And I want lots of them.

Basel Adra, Farisa Abu Aram, and Kifah Adara from No Other Land with their Academy Award 🏆 The film took home Best Documentary Feature at tonight’s #Oscars

It has come to my attention that last night, the best picture of 2024 won the Oscar for best picture of 2024, and several other prizes as well. Strange and fascinating!

Happy for Mikey Madison, and also rare that the Best Actress winner is also the best dressed woman at the ceremony? Just in love with that beautiful Dior dress (a reproduction of a 1956 archival gown, pure Audrey Hepburn) and vintage Tiffany's necklace. A bit of a change from her usual aesthetic!

No one slept more soundly last night than Emilia Pérez’s publicists.

I don’t think FLOW, NO OTHER LAND, or ANORA win nearly as many Oscars pre-2016. It’s telling that the last 4/5 Palme winners have also been nominated for Best Picture, with two winning. International voters have totally changed the calculus.

Only four films have won both the Palme d'Or at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Picture: - Anora - Parasite - The Lost Weekend - Marty

A simple post-Oscar reminder, because a few of you clearly could use it: Artists owe you nothing but the work they do.

Happy if only because this will finally put the last nail in the coffin of the "Greer Garson talked for a full hour" myth that has persisted for eighty years.

My immediate plans after Awards Season 24-25 has finished: 1) Since I’m very close to watching 100 films of 2024 (94), I’ll try to get there. It would be a first. 2) David Lynch Retrospective. It’s time I watch his filmography fully. 3) Try to do a retrospective for some early 2000s years.

Yes. Howling out some "knowing" crackpot bullshit theory about why a vote went the way it went just because you don't like the result is...do I really need to finish that sentence?

This is Brazil celebrating the Oscar for Best International Feature Film for I’m Still Here 🎉 #Oscars

This is the second year in a row that an international film wins Best Animated Feature at the #Oscars    See the full winners list: bit.ly/OscarWins25

I had it in my head that the Best Actress result was part of a general age bias, and that’s *kind* of true. Average age of last 10 Best Actor winners is 50.6; last 10 Best Actress winners, 43.3.

Anora won five Oscars, will get a Criterion 4K release, and Emilia Pérez will be lost and forgotten in Netflix’s vast ocean of shitty “content”. That’s what I call a “good night”.

I'M STILL HERE displacing EMILIA PEREZ for Best International Feature at the Oscars

Btw, a dear remainder that Awards Season isn’t everything and you should watch movies because you like them and not because it wins awards! Also, the best award a movie can get is not being forgotten.

Sean Baker standing up for the theatrical experience again. LOVE HIM. ♥️♥️♥️ #Oscars

Letterboxd member Sean Baker wins Best Director for Anora at the #Oscars

Sean Baker has been talking about the importance of movie theaters ALL season and it went over as well in the room at the Oscars as it has every other time. Now it’s time to actually listen to him!

Sean Baker is the first person to win 4 #Oscars in one night for one movie. See the full winners list: bit.ly/OscarWins25

Anora worse than Green Book? LOL. Get out of my feed. 🙄😂 #MORDÍO

I agree, though the movie itself tried to warn us this would happen.

Congratulations to Sean Baker, the new president of Hollywood

Movies with the most wins at the ‘25 #Oscars  • Anora - 5 • The Brutalist - 3 • Wicked - 2 • Dune 2 - 2 • Emilia Pérez- 2 • I’m Still Here - 1 • Conclave - 1 • A Real Pain - 1 • The Substance - 1 • No Other Land - 1 See the full winners list: bit.ly/OscarWins25

Demi Moore losing to Mikey Madison should be a post-credits scene to The Substance.

Sean Baker won Best Director and spent almost his entire speech on how important it is to see movies in theaters. fantastic stuff.

Well I for one thought that was a very fun show and nothing really pissed off. #Oscars

I just had my red carpet-watching interrupted by a commercial in which Chris Pratt read the Bible to me and invited me to a scripture app, and I hope the person at E! who approved that ad is fired tomorrow.

After more than 10 years watching, this year marks the first time I have watched ALL Oscars nominees of the season (and just in time before the ceremony). Trivial for the general people, but I’m very proud I managed to achieve this. Hopefully it’ll repeat in the future. 😊

Final Oscars Predictions:

Btw, my first Oscars ceremony in social media since I left back in 2020…

Seriously considering posting only in Spanish just to fuck up bigotry in this fucking country. I’m pretty sure everyone of you know how to use a translator, right? DeepL is my go-to. Google Translate has been good too, lately.

There are many good answers to this, but "Don't go" and "Boycott" are not among them. This is television. Television is one of the only things Trump cares about. Don't allow that room to be filled only with his admirers. Shout back, disrupt, challenge, boo, fight. Mess up his show and make it yours.
