I miss old Twitter a lot. I joined at the end of 2010. I enabled notifications for a core group which made a huge difference & tweets were there when I checked in so I saw the same people a lot. I've added people I know to a list here but rarely see them regularly and they rarely see me.
I have made a small list/feed of not-overly-huge accounts that I followed on the other place that I really enjoy interacting with. That’s the first feed I check when I log in. Otherwise, I would likely not see a lot of their content.
twitter felt more secure, here, everything is public, that’s the difference for me. not being able to soft block or make the account private means i try not to attract the monsters
IMO, it was the freshness of the brevity. It freed one from having to compose and craft at length, and forced one to adopt a new style. It was like learning to dance. This platform isn’t a new paradigm.

It also seemed more people made jokes, talked movies and music, or were just playful. That made it easier to connect, I think.
