I've managed to get through the week without hearing one single sound bite of sweet potato hitlers voice. I plan on keeping it that way until he's dead.
I have HGTV or the Science channel on in the background when working from home instead of the news. Been doing it even before the election. Much more calming.
I’ve been alternating between Father Brown and Death in Paradise mostly, with whitstable pearl thrown in for good measure. Have not watched any msnbc or other cable news, just local in the morning. Mental health is my priority right now.
I've avoided news outlets, some youtube faves, and some blogs I still follow. I've been working on the side table I promised my wife and watching non-politics videos. My mental health thanks me.
I’m trying to get my Instagram feed to be only pets, goats, dogs, sheep; there’s a prairie dog named Poppy and Tilly G the tortoise and her dog friend Skippy. That’s what I like to watch.
Lol! Same with us. We’re in Canada and we haven’t even turned our local news on as they are starting to be biased and right leaning. Hard to find truthful journalism out there.
I understand totally. With no unbiased MSM to gather news from these days, we set the TV default to a 24 hour food channel and immediately, everything started looking much brighter. Our meals started improving too.
I’ve been doing a lot of food network too. I like The Kitchen but some of the contests get tedious. Also house renovation shows are fun. Looking for a new daily soundtrack.
I have tried my best to keep the TV off and fill my time touching grass, doing things and talking to people. Sometimes the talking is hard. People want to vent or talk it out. Sometimes it is easy ... Cats and pandas and music. Sometimes people ask what do you want for dinner and a fight starts.
I'm currently binge watching HGTV! I stopped watching MSM when CNN was taken over by right wing zealots and MSNBC was taken over by "both sides". And I'm a self professed news junkie! I don't even watch my local NBC news cuz it's owned by Sinclair.
Right?? I switched from NPR to sports radio after 2016 for the a.m. drive, and had just started tiptoeing back into news. Now it's all sports, all the time.
I stopped watching the news on TV after 9/11. Living in Australia, being told Terrorists were going to kill us got boring, & I really don't care if there's a car crash or traffic jams 50 miles from my house.
I'm done with msm. Haven't watched since Kamala's concession speech.
I'm calmer now.
I'm still devastated.
In 2016, it took 2 weeks before I felt like myself again. This time it's going to take much longer, I fear🥺
I love cooking shows (cooking, not so much...) and I'm working my way through Master Chef. I had the news on all the time for 10 years and have gone cold turkey. No regrets.
I’ve become addicted to watching Asian street food vendors cooking food for patrons. No speaking, just the sites and sounds of food being lovingly prepared. 🥰
I don't know what I'd do if it weren't for having Family Guy, MASH, American Dad, King of the Hill, & Futurama running in syndication on several channels. The Nat Geo channel has some good stuff on occasionally.
Same and please continue. I'm pretty sure if we cutoff MSM and stop associating w all MAGA beyond when absolutely necessary, we can have a big impact and what transpires. I've stopped communicating w some of my oldest friends and have zero plans to change that.
I *was* a news junkie before the election. Now I AVOID news. No NPR in the car, trying to avoid headlines online and cringing when I do see them. I'm currently into chill mixes and trolling Steam for my next game. I was recommended Hades 2, so I'm gonna try that.
Samesies! I think it’s called trauma. The Great British Baking Show is an awesome rewatch because they cry for each other and you can’t remember who won the first time you watched anyway.
Deleted X and blocked all forms of US news including late night tv shows from my intense daily news intake. Cold Turkey. I’m watching period movies. Might need to go full Hallmark Channel.
I feel like an addict. We need twelve step meetings. I deleted all the news and current events bookmarks from all my browsers and devices so I don't weaken and start engaging with the nightmare. I accidentally clicked on something and saw the name Marco Rubio and had something like panic attack.
Little Marco can have that effect.
Even when the other place was busted up at the end I'd still refresh all night long like I'd get the jackpot I needed to read.
I used to watch a crap ton of Food Network, I knew most of the pro chefs, what was happening in every show, it was really fun honestly. I'm too busy to keep up with all of it now but it sure serves as a great distraction
Nice!! Same here including late night talk shows (Kimmel, Seth Meyers A Closer Look, Colbert & Last Week Tonight) still love them but they’re gonna show some T***p stupidity & it’s just gonna show add to my anxiety. So, just movies n tv shows this past week. Also, limiting my social media.
Food shows have had a tangible, net-positive effect on the quality of life of myself, my family, and my friends. Unfortunately, I now make amazing Focaccia breadsticks that gets requested at every pot luck.
I have been out of country since right before election it’s been easy to avoid news! Soon to be home, I’m planning on HGTV, food network, binge watching Netflix. I refuse to let that man take any more of my serenity and peace unless absolutely necessary!!
I've been watching the Outer Banks on Netflix. Teens on a treasure hunt, plus family drama and history. Very great dramedy. 10/10 so glad I'm not stressing myself too much.
I've been watching Hallmark Channel all night...well okay I'm sleeping and it's on but still, I've never slept better! All these fun and sweet Christmas movies on constantly!
I was listening to three political podcasts a day, but I've gone podcast-cold-turkey the past week. Mostly as (to quote William Gibson) my brain has felt as if it's "the color of television, tuned to a dead channel."

Wonder how they’re doing over there?
Plus the streaming movies in all my streaming subscriptions.
No news for me for the next 4+ years.
My existential dread doesn't need feeding.
X-odus helped a lot. I'm more functional this week.
Escape!
Way better than news!
And I don't even *like* sportsball.

completely shut out watching ANY news programs at all!

Oh and ID discovery, cause options are good 😂
I'm watching a lot of SportsCenter again.
Dipping myself back into the horror again... as it's unavoidable... but repeat step 1 to ground myself again.
