Suggestion for a new policy. For every $5,000 a private school in fees above 10K a year per student, their federal funding gets cut in half. If they ‘need’ aquatic centres, elaborate theatre halls etc the parents can obviously afford to pay for all their education - ThreadSky

Again, when rich businesses and individuals are already getting a good deal from the government, rather than being pleased with their lot, they are shameless in their pursuit of more money at the expense of the less well off. Maybe that level of selfishness is what got them rich in the first place?

Imagine how many at-risk homeless people could be housed in empty school boarding houses over the holidays. All those rooms with ensuites, wifi & electricity locked up and empty while people sleep in cars.

I’d prefer to see all funding to private schools cut if they don’t make their facilities available to the general public. Gyms, pools, ovals etc sit idle for 1/4 of the year & in evenings.. they should be community hubs, not exclusionary clubs

I'd vote for that.

Here's another: every school receiving public funding has to make their facilities available to the public on weekends & holidays.
