Asking anyone - let alone millennials - for an opinion on a profound change without including any in-depth outlining of the consequences (inc 2nd and 3rd order) of that change is utterly stupid and how we got Brexit.
Interesting you chose a black person for the picture. I am sure there were plenty of murders you could have chosen but nothing like pandering to the racists.
While I understand the reasoning behind wanting it, there’s a huge debate & consideration to be had over the death penalty. What about miscarriages of justice and undiagnosed mental health illness? It’s not linear, that’s for sure.
An opinion poll is not the majority of the public, we're better than this shame you aren't anymore. I don't always agree with Peter Hitchens but he's right about opinion polls.
A proper poll uses a statistical sample to estimate what the entire public would say. It is a measurement whose error does not matter as long as the detected effect is large. However, Hitchens is right about the influence of polls where this effect is not much larger than the measurement error.
Well, isn't this an unsubtle attempt to get the death penalty back before the planned authoritarian take over of "Reform" in 4 years. Maybe wait and see how the cluster f'k of "project 2025" turns out for the US over the next couple of months before you start pushing foreign agendas on us.
The Telegraph. Oh, pardon me, The Times with a good menacing Black face should help sell the death penalty to the Brexit crowd. The subheading should be, "Brexit is starting to pay off. We have control."
F me.
Most people want to see the Times put in the dustbin of history. A far right out of touch paper with only clickbait to serve the masses. Rather than investigative journalism.
I think it's the severity of the crime. Even though he was 17, we have to accept the vast majority of 17 yr olds know not to do what he did. RIP to those innocent girls, condolences to their families and may the victims of his actions find peace over time.
Every word of what you say is correct, but it still raises the question of whether a country is willing to impose the death penalty on those aged under 18 at the time of their offending.
I think there would be a very very high bar for the death penalty. I would argue this boy, the killers of James Bulger and many more have exceeded it. I'm normally more.liberal than this but this isn't about politics imo. Just about something that can't be defended or argued.
Because this hasn't really been properly debated for a while. I'd be happy with the death penalty if we could be sure that people were really guilty. Too many miscarriages of justice that take years to resolve
No they don't. Unless you are specifically talking about traitors, or people who have accepted money from foreign governments/agents, Or held illegal meetings with foreign governments... And even then NO THEY DON'T
A mentally ill schoolboy diagnosed with autism. Suffered racist bullying at school and retreated to his bedroom where he fixated on violent revenge. Yes, sure, bring back the death penalty, that will fix everything.
No we don't. But seeing as your going there, let's start with Boris Johnson for the deaths of 100s of 1000s due to his willful negligence during covid.

No government should have the right to execute people.
The strongest argument is the issue of wrongful conviction.
“Quick, give me a picture of a scary black man!”
I hope that bloke dies in prison, and lives a very long time, all of it in prison
Maybe one day he'll realise what he has done, and he won't do that if you execute him
That is essentially what he wants
The Times is a death cult. A sad shadow of the paper it used to be. Pathetic desperate stuff.
F me.
Where there’s shit stirring in the world you’ll usually find Rupert Murdoch’s grubby little finger prints
Should be ashamed of yourselves.

Fixed your headline for you.
You're welcome
Indeed, why don't you do that *right now*?
