Private school teachers say they are taking second jobs because schools are using the introduction of VAT on school fees to freeze salaries, according to a survey by the biggest teaching union ⬇️

No, this is very much a case of private employer treating employees badly, not something caused by the recent VAT change, so stand by my original comment. You’re free to hold a different opinion though 👍🏼
No mention of your dire threats of state schools being flooded with private economic migrants being false, AND a brand-new angle of attack. Seriously good work there, guys. Honestly. GFY
What crap. First vat bill at the new rate hasn't even been written yet. All of a sudden they've had an annual pay review, fallen into debt and found a part time job?!
What you are highlighting is awful employers taking advantage of their staff by using VAT as an excuse not to pay them the going rate for being a teacher. Leeches every private school
They need a better union. One that stands up for them. Hell, half of them are probably not in a union because they figured that "highly regarded institutions" wouldn't be all about profits over workers... oh how wrong they were.
If this leads to the teachers in our schools (the majority) being paid more than teachers in their schools (the minority) then that seems a satisfactory outcome.
How is this related to VAT please? It is private schools who determine the pay of their staff. Have they now reduced it or did not increase it in line with inflation?
Whilst many of the parents enjoy their next ski holiday or high performance car or expensive house. I hope the teachers leave and join the state sector where they will be welcomed.
Ask them how much the admin staff at their schools are paid. Actually ask them how many of the admin staff at their schools have already been laid off in order to fund the salaries and pensions of teachers.

Really?
Oh wait, they would have to take a salary cut.
Best jump across to the state school sector

Have they tried cancelling their sky tv, mobile phone contract and swapping a Friday night takeaway for pasta and tomato sauce?
