#AutChat #ActuallyAutistic I was reading the chat theme info for today and I'm unfamiliar with this term. Is autistic inertia different than executive dysfunction? If so, how?

When I think of autistic inertia, it relates to starting a task or activity, or perhaps stopping a task or activity to begin something new, or perhaps stopping a task or activity to rest.
And also, it relates to... when you start a task, the ability to keep going.
For example, some people find that it is difficult to begin a task, but as soon as they begin, it is easy to continue that task for long periods of time.
Also, some people might find that when they have begun a task, they find that it is difficult to stop.
Some people might find that they have an easier time switching from task to task, but have a harder time staying with one specific task for long periods of time.
Others might find that they have more trouble with starting and stopping, but they can keep doing one specific task all day.

The difficulty of switching activities/activity levels.
I might describe it as a certain element of executive function, as well as dysfunction.

Like from resting to housework is harder than between different aspects of housework.
