The act of art means youβre alive. The day you stop you wonβt die, not immediately, you just slowly shrivel up until one day you forget how; then you die. Perhaps you then just wish you were dead. Not I, said I, to no one and to everyone. Too loudly to not be noticed and promptly thrown overboard.
That being said, yes. This is something I have done and have been doing for awhile as a counter to the "perfect" digital and AI art world. Give me messy and give me textures! Give me things you can't do on a computer!
As long as it has some ambition. Thereβs a thin line between Tommy Wiseau and whatever the fuck that Matt Damon and Casey Affleck desert bullshit was.
I don't know if there is such a thing as bad art. It might not be art a lot of people like but just the act of creating something and sharing your imagination with the world is an awesome thing.
I'm trying!! Perfectionism has REALLY hurt my progress for a long time. My resolution this year is to learn how to be less picky about my own work, experiment more, and draw more bad art that leads to better art in the future!
if you have no formal training in art then your artworks fall under the classification of outsider art and has a value to collectors of outsider artworks. the values of such artworks also rises in value if the artist is a public figure of any kind.
art is for everyone :D i get so sad when people wonβt even try to draw because theyβre scared it will look bad β¦ like babe thatβs apart of the charm !!!
Absolutely, how else is anyone going to learn without making mistakes and improving on technique? It's okay to make something that might objectively be bad - even you might think it's bad - but with practice, progress will come!
I'm not talented in this arena but it makes me happy to spend time doing things like this. So yes, fully agree. Do art. It's good for you- like going for a walk or eating healthy food.
Accepting that the things I do might be "imperfect" has seriously helped me accomplish more over all. Let's go bad art! Since it's art at the end of the day :)
I think people lately are a bit too stressed out about having to only share perfect art. I don't think much progress nor real innovation happens when people get that scared of making mistakes.
It's understandable to want to have a perfect output when the job market is this tough, but maybe if we try to be more forgiving with other artists it can be easier for everyone.

bad art > no art
Apparently they're all very cool with making bad art.
How are artists going to grow their skills to new mediums if they can't get past the growing pains of exploring?
