Comments
1. Stay curious - Always be willing to learn new things.
2. Stay humble - Always be willing to unlearn things you thought were true, but aren’t.
3. Do everything in love.
I think this allows me to grow as a teacher.
Also, Tom Boswell, WAPO sports writer: "There is no substitute for excellence--not even success"!

Get out of the way and let them learn
Teachers who teach too much and never switch into the role of facilitator are preventing students from the essential task of processing/practicing what they ostensibly “learned” from the teacher.
Create a learningscape that is not a walled garden. Exploring contemplating, collaborating, connecting, communicating are the activities and processes.
The teacher observes and takes notes; is available; offers opportunities; moves about mostly silently
Design & resources
1) Use ALL available resources to become the teacher YOU would want to teach YOU!
2) Create systems early that support everything you do. Your systems should make teaching life easier and allow you to build your private library.

2. At the end of a lesson record BPN:
Best: who did their best thinking? (Jot initials)
Passengers: who was just along for the ride?
Next: what’s one thing you want to do next?
2. Give students and yourself second chances every day. #TeacherAdvice #EduSky
🗝️Get to know other staff members such as custodians, secretaries, paras, ext...
Make friends with the office staff.
Make connections with people outside your dept.
Don't take things students say personally.
Your school district needs you just as much as you need them (maybe more).
