"So, it’s a negative headline over a dubious story. By itself, it’s not really a huge deal. Another example of Big Journalism trying to find fault with Harris. More of an eye-roll, perhaps, than a journalistic mortal sin.
But juxtapose it with the Trump headline, which takes..."

"In parting, I’ll share with you a post from historian and author Kevin Kruse about Trump:
Historians: He’s a fascist. Political scientists: He’s a fascist. His own aides: He’s a fascist. The NYT: He shows a wistful longing for a bygone era of global politics."
Yes, the problem is noticeable, easily. And of course the NYT knows it too. Who can interview the NYT for a story about why they’re trying to bring Harris down and bring Trump up?
Tucking the eugenicist diatribe in the body of a members-only article while giving a free-for-all-to-read summary that says something quite different makes the NYT an untrustworthy source. That obfuscating headline is what the majority of eyes will ever view.
This was not the first time a newspaper which once had a solid reputation fails the standards. One cannot help wonder what the motivation behind that is ... Accident? Money (i.e. clicks or similar)? A shift in editorial opinions?
It certainly leaves the longtime readers ... confused.
I would trade all the Haberman/Baker "sure betcha wished you knew this at the time" books for one good investigative piece telling us what has gone wrong at the NYT
I might also be the only one who thinks jumping Elmo, leaping into the air like he's in a cult trance, looks like he got a boob job. One of so many things I wish I could un-see in the photo. 🍒
Barbaro probably isn't as smart as you think! Might even be closet M@G@. I would not be surprised at this point if Sulzberger turns out to be as M@G@ as Musk, Murdoch, etc.
One of the many questions I have about this NYT sanewashing the nazi-esque maga movement is do these morons in the political press ever read a goddamn history book? When Joe Kahn and his loved ones are packed on trains to TrumpCamps I wonder if he’ll have a thought about how he helped cause it ?
Grateful to you for holding the press to account. But does legacy media get just how many current and potential audience they've permanently lost, simply by sane washing not just Trump but his entire party of terrorists. Last place I'll look for "news" now is WaPo or NYTimes; just not truthful!
One symptom of a larger problem is that Michael and much of the rest of the Times’ political reporters remain in Elon’s Nazi bar while refusing to engage with other platforms (namely this one) because of its perceived “bias.” And of course they’re unable to see the irony in that.

Odd that Barbaro can't see that.

Re Joe Kahn and Barbaro u know them, I don’t
But am about ready to “deride” them as “out of their depth”
Trying to exercise and stick to low-fat gluten-freed FODMAP diet to help odds of living long enough to read histories of how x y z happened
Why?
I can only imagine it’s bc he sees what people are seeing but does not see it as a problem (and that’s a problem)
It's about swaddling evil, evil ideas in the virtues of moderation and gentility, which are rather hard to call out when used passive-aggressively.
They were being "nice." How can that be bad?
