Because I'm a complete goddamn nerd, I'd like to explain to folks (particularly Liberals) what a feint is, in sword fighting. People think it means "a fake attack." It doesn't.

Plessy v. Ferguson for trans people

Nothing sums up the state of affairs for transgender Americans quite like the US Supreme Court denying trans people life-saving healthcare at the same time that the Trump administration shuts down suicide prevention programs for LGBTQ people. These bastards want us all dead.

#CanCon

damn, those are some shapes

honestly this might be the thing that tactically/cynically pushes Lander over Mamdani for me—it’s just hard to imagine the Cuomo/Adams factions managing to gin up the same sort of billion-dollar scaremongering campaign against him and have it have much traction

Jason is very prolifically published in English. But he isn’t discussed much these days. I think the sense of excitement has long given way to a sense of institutionalism. But I promise you, reading Jason is a very good use of your time.

“The Election” by Al Columbia from Amnesia no. 2

It's easy to assume Lander got arrested on purpose to raise awareness (or "as a publicity stunt" if you're cynical) but for weeks he's been quietly escorting immigrants through the court precisely because typically his presence would protect THEM from arrest www.thecity.nyc/2025/06/17/b...

the fact that this photo might actually cause me to rank him ahead of Zohran shows that there’s all different kinds of charisma

you’re…you’re the fella who thinks the AI fell in love with him, right

ICE arresting the NYPD is introducing deep quantum uncertainty into the Cool Zone

Brad Lander--comptroller of the city of New York, and one of the leading mayoral candidates--has just been arrested by masked federal thugs. @bradlander.bsky.social www.amny.com/news/brad-la...

just learned that special agent deep throat, the informant who leaked the watergate scandal, basically just joined the fbi to stop talking about toilet paper

the “List of Poker Hands” card is actually a valid part of the deck and should be included when playing all games

[sighs deeply] nominative determinism for the win

This reminds me that for at least a decade, I regarded the Wire lyric “Fish fingers / All in a line” as a masterpiece of grotesque surrealism.

Even for people in relatively happy homes, there’s an index-fund-like power to public schooling. My median teacher was as weird (moderately) and fucked-up (a little) as either of my parents, but the important thing was that they were weird and fucked-up *in different ways*.

look at her. look!!!

and he was never heard from again

the only flag i stand for

videogames are power fantasies

If Anubis has a cat, this is the look she gives you while he’s weighing your heart against a feather

Thinking about it as someone who teaches games history to 20-year olds as a job: it’s not a *good* question, but it’s an acceptable one. A good question would be “What games before Undertale really explored etc. etc.?”, because it implies an understanding that the world didn’t start with you.

It’s also broadly emblematic of the entire New York political elite’s failure and pathologies. The Times, Bloomberg world, Tish pushing Adrienne in, Hakeem doing nothing, etc. There absolutely was this moment to get ahead of the Cuomo issue and they failed.

This might be the strongest case for doing reforms that enable true multiparty competition; actually supplanting the Republican Party becomes a feasible goal

I was named after the protagonist of Greaser’s Palace, and honestly I’m still not convinced I could’ve gotten any luckier
