(Also, this part just *isn’t true*—Doom is, in fact, the archetypal example of a “2.5D Engine” that appears 3D but can’t have a sector above or below another. Which, I guess, does at least make it closer to Myst…)

I don’t see how Myst is more similar to Doom than it is to, say, Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! books—which, like Myst, are also a time-independent set of hyperlinked texts illustrated by first-person depictions of 3D spaces. If anything, Sorcery! is formally closer to Doom thanks to the RPG elements.

I think the fact that they used the LSAT arguments section for the their logic questions—which, if you were to *precision-engineer a set of logic questions in order to produce the discrepancy they found* is exactly what you’d come up with—means that their research didn’t support much of anything.

The world is run by men with motion smoothing on their televisions and passwords on post-its on their computer. People in our own lives too old and indoctrinated to be saved. Internet passwords. Wire transfers. Blocked channels. Lost car keys. The war at home. We have more power than we’re using.

geez, if we can’t appeal to the folks who have ended up in medical textbooks for literally masturbating themselves into the hospital, why even have a social network at all

Lander does this, it's a whole new race. I mean, not one he wins, but definitely a whole new race.

a great thing about RCV over FPTP is that this sort of idle musing about who will be my top choice feels pleasantly optimistic, not stressful and depressing
