Honestly, I'm glad if some people are upset that I'm not posting there as often. That's..kind of the point? Maybe then they'll eventually question why it's morally correct for me to neglect 300k followers

One of the better recommendations on BlueSky I’ve seen (this post to be specific), didn’t know you had a social! I’ve been making a transition to here, mostly enjoying it so far. Haven’t watched your content in a bit, I really should get back into it …
Put the call to action about BlueSky in the end of your videos. Don’t elaborate beyond “I post there more than on Twitter these days. It’s more creator and artist friendly” or something like that. Unfortunately also, a ton of those 300k are probably bots. I had like 1k followers and I’m no one lol.
Thank you Vaati ❤️ it's much nicer over here and those that refuse to migrate are probably some of the few you dont want in your fanbase anyway if theyre really gona get upset about something so trivial.
Honestly I've been following your vids for years. This is the first time I have ever followed you on social media because twitter is a pit of negativity hate and misinformation, and I couldn't bear to be on there.
yeah generally not a good idea to share jack about your personal or professional life on a social media site owned and operated by a man who literally bought himself into government and shares every scrap of info with them upon request
The way I see it is if people really want updates, like really really want them, they’ll go out of their way to find you however they can. If not, then that’s on them.
At this point I feel like people people still "over there" are at the very least complicit with fascism.
I understand that this is your livelihood, but I wouldn't care.
That said, I've been thinking about what could be the best way to migrate those followers over. Should I continue to post video updates there for a while, and change my name to @vaatividya.bsky.social in the hopes that some people come? Or just quit entirely and cut the losses?
it's a difficult decision, when you consider how X throttles posts offsite links. I wouldn't be shocked to learn that BlueSky links are mega, nova nerfed. You could try that, or adding it into your YT videos. Or make a short, or a short video, explaining your socials and where you are.
I think completely cutting it off is for the best. Promoting your bluesky blatantly at the start of a video would be best to let people know you've migrated.
Video updates are also gonna get crippled by the algorithm. Twitter cripples engagement with links unless it's in the replies.
Change the name. Or pin a tweet. Or just leave a nod to this account somehow.
Or you could be extra spiteful and only post screenshots of your bsky posts, until engagement trully drops off a cliff, and you have nothing to lose.
I would change the handle like you mentioned, maybe post a link to YouTube channel and discord (where I see your notifications first) and then repost that message once in a while for like 6 months. You don't owe anyone your presence in a toxic swamp except Miyazaki
I think teasing cool stuff you did/posted on here might attract people. Mentioning it in videos too. Whenever I see people saying "I asked my fans on this platform and we had fun discussions/contests there" i tend to be interested to follow. Just as a "here's all the fun you're missing" thing.
I believe that there is a way to sync posting on Bluesky with Twitter. I would just make it so Twitter gets all the video tweets with comments turned off or something. Best of luck vaati
I don't know if you have done so but maybe you should bring attention to this transition, mention it in your videos, maybe even make a video entirely about this
Now in what way you want to address this that's on you
Like, do you say simply "Hey this place is chill and nice, I'll be posting more often than on twr" or do you go "I think it's important to leave twitter and I would call most of my fans to do so and follow me here"
bsky in usernames and infrequent posts to notify people is much easier for someone like me. the alternatives is constantly keeping tabs on people's movements which isn't feasible
Your main audience is on YouTube anyway. And just promote your bluesky on your videos and casually move away from X. Just don't ever delete the account because people will steal the handle.
Sure it sucks to rebuilt the audience for another social. And it's gonna be funny if bsky turns evil also. 🤣
Tough question, personally I would quit entirely cut the losses but promote Bluesky on maybe Youtube? I am guessing most people followed you on X because of Youtube in the first place?
Communicate where you are going and what you're doing. Give very little room for error. You don't have to be completely transparent but your die hard fans could possibly move to the better platform if they see you using it. If they don't, at least they know where to go.
A moral stance ain't much of a stance if you - the biggest Souls creator - crumbles to this kinda pressure. Honestly, appreciate you not posting over there.
As someone just starting out, I couldn't bear the swamp that X has become (and not the fun, poison kind)
They've been reducing traffic to accounts associated with Bluesky or bsky handles. The vast majority of the traffic there is generally bot-heavy too, so the losses aren't as steep as the shown 300k. I would cut the losses but use other avenues to identify your new handle / location.
Gonna be kinda selfish here, but definitely the third one. They know where to find you, and the current Twitter exodus ain't bringing their best people, so if some don't come over, no loss.
Hmmm, I think it might be good to still use it for video uploads. You’ve already made it clear you use this platform more, maybe link it in your bio too. Plus the people who want to see more of your posts will come find you here so you’ll regain the followers but slowly
I gave my followers a heads up that I would be leaving entirely by a set date. And by the time I announced my last post, my core audience had already moved here, and a lot more followed.
So I think as long as you let people know, they'll come over
I announced there that I'd only continue using that site to promote new videos, otherwise this site is my new home if people want to stay in touch and see the usual posts.
Seems like a decent way to transition away and let people know where to find you.
Yeah seems like a best of both worlds kind of situation. Those who really just want to know about updates on videos there will still it, everyone else can either migrate or keep to themselves. :p
Just careful about changing your name.
I've been hearing that people who have bluesky in their username or posta are getting shadowbanned.
I've done the same but idc because I don't have a big following ^^;
Anyone still posting on Twitter at this point knows what the deal is, you don't need to be like worthless American politicians and try and "reach across the aisle". If you've got fans who like posting on the anti-trans Nazi shithole... do you want those fans???
The type of person who would move over to bluesky will find their way here eventually. Quitting while keeping the account up with a link to here is probably the best bet. As for the others, well, we wouldn’t be here if we wanted to keep interacting with them. My vote is cut the losses
Cutting off your presence there entirely is probably your best bet - people tend to be resistant to changing their habits. If they can still get updates from you there, many will never leave.
I’ve heard—and perhaps experienced, but I can’t confirm—that changing your display name to include a bsky link will deprioritize you on people’s timelines
Personally I always find out you've posted a new vid via YT's notif system/it just showing up on my YT feed. I've never used social media for updates and I follow you here just cuz so I question/wonder how big of an asset X updates ever were, ya know? If most people do the same or what the norm is.
Fake pursuer!
Honestly don't mention the 🦋on the 🐦 in your name it surely impacts the reach there.
But it boils down to if twitter lacking impact your youtube numbers at all.
You could automate posts there i guess for uploads on your channel but eh
You’ve still got your YouTube audience and honestly people should stop acting like they’re entitled to you? Dude shaming you then boohooing about missing updates because they refuse to move where you go is not a real fan and just sounds entitled… if they want updates they’ll go where the updates are
you should change name or put it in a very obvious way some people may need it, I jump to bsky only recently and looking at all my following was helpful when people made it accessible
To be honest, this is nonsense and stupid ego drivel from people. Anyone who wants to consume your content knows when and where you publish something. Everything else is Mimimi. Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas!
Maybe posting just the really big or important updates to both sites with reminders that for extra updates or more posts, they can come follow on this site.
I've slowly transitioned over by posting less and less and once I've completed my current ongoing projects that I started announcing on twitter, I'm going to cut all ties entirely. That way those who are waiting for them to be finished will know when they are, and I get to leave.
Creators as renowned as you I feel could be the catalyst for these changes. If you, with the esteem and recognition you garnered take a stand and stick with it, people will adapt. I've been here 3 months and will never go back.
Change is never 100% smooth, but in a short time others will follow.
You've made the right choice. And I think more and more people will come here every time twitter becomes more insufferable. But I don't know since I've never had it.
Twitter / X feels like Facebook after everyone’s boomer parents started using it. It’s all weird memes and engagement baiting. Bluesky has slowly taken over my habit almost completely.
Also, why are they acting as if they are entitled to only seeing your posts exclusively or mainly on Xitter anyway. Its not like it cost money to make an accout here.
Twitter and social media in general encourages a person's ego which leads to entitlement. Unfortunately not everyone realizes this and thus won't keep themselves in check.
We are ants in a void at the end of the day.
I’d post for a little while less and less, as people might not be aware of bluesky.
But you’re right in your decision no matter how you deal with it.
I’m proud of you man ❤️
Over 25 million people use Bluesky. And that number is still growing, and isn't run by a conspiracy theory addict who rather would have the site blocked in a country and call for riots and civil war rather than operate within international law.
Also, moaning about "missing updates" when they could just bookmark the account if they're that opposed to making a free account to follow it elsewhere means this "objection" might as well have nothing to do with the channel at all.
Anecdotally at least I've seen just about every mid-size or greater person that I followed on Twitter note that they get significantly more engagement here than they do there. You have to wonder how many followers are dead accounts or bots on top of the algorithm breaking apart.

So happy to see you on here :)
Tbf. He ain't wrong 😜
Regardless, glad you are out of the cess pit, even if it is just a bit.
Somehow I missed this, let's go!
I understand that this is your livelihood, but I wouldn't care.
I'd say run a couple tests, try and track Twitter conversion analytics. If it's a number you're comfy losing to your main content, drop it full stop.
Video updates are also gonna get crippled by the algorithm. Twitter cripples engagement with links unless it's in the replies.
Those staying behind are left behind.
Or you could be extra spiteful and only post screenshots of your bsky posts, until engagement trully drops off a cliff, and you have nothing to lose.
Now in what way you want to address this that's on you
I would go with the first one but you do you
Then quit.

is 300k followers on twitter even... a blip, anymore? like do you actually get significant traffic out of it?
this may sound corny but: thanks for putting your foot down
doesn't pursue
????????????
