This will go well with the planned US blackout on February 28th, too.

Canadians are preparing to create a retail blackout on Feb 28 of all U.S retailers doing business here. For one day, show them we have the power when provoked. Absolutely no purchases from Walmart, Home Depot, Best Buy, Amazon, McDonald’s, Staples, Gap,Toys r Us, Costco or any other US retailers.

Sadly, this is not a strategy that will have any effect. People need groceries and even if they avoid giving the store money on that Friday, that only means that they go on Thursday or Saturday.

If you want to make a difference, then you have to make tougher choices than a one day ban. 1/3

First, don't go to a store than supports Trump policies at all, on any day. That may mean looking into whether your store does so but some, like Walmart, are obvious. That also means no Amazon. Period. Not just Friday but all of the time.
You have to be willing to accept some inconvenience.2/3

When I say this won't have an effect, I base this on the fact that it hasn't worked when applied to one-day gas boycotts. The gas companies weren't affected one iota. And neither will these companies. To make a lasting change, you need to make a long term commitment. 3/3
