Regarding Germany, it may play in the world's favor: the demeaning divorce speech, followed by the sneaky hotel hangout - all of it may have the unintended consequence of angering German votes who are outraged by the affair, and were perhaps undecided before. Germans are still capable of outrage.

A book I read years ago was titled Seven Days In May about the take over of the US government by the Military, this feels like Donald Trump is doing exactly that taking over the country without any interference. He has now weakened the military by putting unqualified people in place.
