The green arrow points towards a very smooth top of the lower bands in lane 1.
The top part definitely looks duplicated.

1) do you know roughly what % of people can also spot these things without it being pointed out? 1/10, 100 or 1000?

I rarely spot these tiny duplications on a phone. Need a big monitor for my work!
The only legitimate use for supplementary files is separate machine-readable files such as phylogenetic matrices, videos and 3d models.
Predatory academic vampires would be a better fit.
