Make sure to check the graphics settings as they have some really cool filters you can apply! Im having a ton of fun with the game so far, also try pressing R3 if you haven't while playing, for a cool feature.

Gotcha gotcha!! It was a 3d platformer with yoyos as the main movement mechanic! It has big sega Saturn vibes and the art and stages are inspired by old school sonic!

They also made the sports RPG Dodgeball Academia and the beat'em-up/twin stick shooter Ninjin. I played a lot of Ninjin, it's very cool. Their visuals are always pretty fun.

The game calls itself a "Yoyovania" and I'm really here for that concept; all of the key upgrades and abilities are centered around learning new yoyo tricks. Much like how Laika: Aged Through Blood styled itself as a "Motorvania" and a lot of progression in that game is centered around the bike.

Combat is a lot of fun, you can bounce the yoyo on any angled corners to get extra reach and hit anything along its trajectory, and the various combat encounter rooms are set up in a way where there's often little tricks for you to pull off, and the audio-visual feedback just feels great.

Visually, it's really delightful, there's a lot of adorable character designs, just cute as hell, and they are so very wonderfully animated, all bouncy and squishy.

It's a game that's absolutely chock full of whimsy.

Also? Music is fantastic.

The game boasts of having none other than Yoko Shimomura as a guest composer, and yeah that track's amazing, but the whole soundtrack is wonderful. Especially the safe room theme, and overworld themes.

It's also a perfect game to play on the Steam Deck, been enjoying it in little sessions, and probably doing a little too much secret hunting. There's a lot of extra stuff like puzzle and challenge rooms to find, and it can be incredibly satisfying overcoming those tougher challenges.

Overall? I ended up playing this instead of Deltarune I was enjoying it so much. So, that's probably some high praise right there. I'll get to that later!
