CCS is too inefficient & costly to scale up in time frame needed. We have no plan for transportation & sequestration of large volumes of CO2. Plans put forward to date pose to large a health risk. That’s all before considering the health risks of the other pollutants emitted by burning fossil fuels

yep, that's all written in the story too :) it's hard to choose just one reason it's a bad idea but one of the big ones for me is that even if it worked great and we *could* scale it rapidly, the most CCS could do is offset slightly more than 2% of emissions...for all that risk and cost? just dumb.

They sell the energy to power carbon capture devices in the form of electricity or hydrogen, they greenwash, and they can go on burning fossils the same way. Absolute win-win-win for fossil fuel companies to promote CCS
