Getting older is funny that way. I alternate between explosive diarrhoea and chronic constipation - rarely anything just normal (half joking here). Hormones control so much more than I realised
I’ve suffered chronic constipation all of my life. I get enough fiber, and fiber supplements make me gassy. I’ve had all of the imaging all of the testing, etc. The only thing that has helped long-term is two of these (picture below) before bed each night. Took about a week before it kicked in.
That shit (no pun intended) also works wonders if you get leg or foot cramps during the night. Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer. It also helps your body process of the electrolytes. The problem with hard tablets, no matter the dosage, you probably won’t digest enough to make a difference.
These tablets are large, but very soft. If you try to cut them, you’ll end up with more powder than not. My doctor originally suggested this for another matter that is too complicated to get into, but it worked on the constipation almost miraculously. Bonus side effect!

"More ex-lax for my friend! More espresso!"
(Not immediately, though; there's a blizzard happening out there right now.)
