This has been one ginormous charade...all in the name of making a stupid weak Trump look like a strongman.
How much is this boondoogle costing American taxpayers?????
Idk how to feel about this. I'm happy for those who got their jobs back...but I feel kind of like, what do they know, for them to have reversed course so quickly and realized they needed these people back???😟
Right? Like "oh, all of this stuff was in place for a reason??" Weird, it's almost like it requires a lot of work and a lot of people to run a country of ~340 million people!
This is yet another example of the convicted felon's incompetence. Any worker who returns should have full back pay and a financially backed guarantee for at least 2 years' pay should the felon act on his impulse and fire these workers again.
Because musk accidentally fired people that were absolutely critical don't jeep spinning the news npr you used to be trusted now your part of the problem
There measles outbreak in TX, bird flu, TB, several hemorrhagic virus fever outbreaks abroad, mpox in the DRC and other countries, the Supreme Court has authorized more poop in drinking water the list goes on and on ...I think anyone can see we need public health now more than ever.
You can’t fire people and completely disrupt their lives and throw their families into chaos, and then two weeks later say “you’re not fired after all so we expect you to come back to work.” No sane person does that.
People who work in public health do not do it for the money. They have a passion and dedication to try and keep people from dying. This fired staff wants to keep people from dying but also need to take care of themselves. What a double edged sword.
That’s why I don’t read my emails, I could get fired tomorrow via email and I wouldn’t know, btw if my boss is reading this I quit, if not see you in the morning..
Is this what passes for professionalism today in the American business world? We can understand Trump since his organization a family mom and Pop operation, but aren’t musk‘s company publicly traded? How can decision-making be so slipshod?
Understand any desire they would have to come back to work for the CDC and we need all public servants and of course the NEED to have the or A job. Yet understand if any of them are hesitant to even come back. What an undeserved disaster for them and for us as a country
This truly seems to be some “video game” to Elon.
“Whoops, I shouldn’t have gotten rid of those characters/players? Okay, restart.”
This. Is. Not. A. Frickin. Game.
This is not a game. People lost their livelihood and shelter. Some moved clear across the country. And now they get an email saying oops! Who is going to pay for their expenses??? Oh, that’s right the taxpayers will once they (rightfully) sue the US govt for pain, suffering, & wrongful termination.
I think that keeping the courts tied up endlessly is a part of THE game to THEM.
As you so ruefully point out, it's us, speaking for and as a US taxpayer, that will be left holding the bag for something that never needed to occur in this way in the first place.
It would be indeed. The US govt should somehow divest itself of it's Russian compromised GoP arm as it simultaneously divests Musk from SpaceX (with fair compensation) for National Security reasons in one fell swoop act of self-preservation.
"We apologize for any disruption that this may have caused."
Yeah, "disruption." Who cares about the mental and emotional toll of being fired by an unelected billionaire for political gamesmanship?
Yeah, how many are going to go back is the real question. many will not return because the main appeal of their work was the it wasn't very mercurial like the private sector is. That trust is broken and even for those returning its the same situation.
I hate to say it but if I was a federal employee I would probably already be gone. Maybe I'd come back in four years but I have bills to pay and won't work at a place that doesn't provide a stable job. It's bizarre to say that govt jobs aren't secure. 😐
Why would these ppl feel inclined to return when they were just summarily fired? I get it that ppl need jobs & healthcare & security but what’s to stop them from being refired?
Of course! The firings were just for publicity, there was no way these firings were legal or would be allowed to stand. The re-hiring will be very quiet, almost like they didn’t happen.
Ha Ha! FAFO didn’t ya?
Now give them their back pay with interest!
After a huge FU like that you might want to fire DODGE; they’re making YOU look dumber than them. 😂😂
Were these the same workers who received letters saying they were fired for poor performance? No longer poor performers ehh? Can we fire DOGE for poor performance?
Anyone who gets fired then thinks they're safe after having the firing rescinded, is crazy. Of course they're going to fire you again once they figure out how to do it.
So they get ignominiously fired on little notice and told today to report to work tomorrow? What utter bullshit
I mean I’m glad they got their jobs back but when are they going to get sick time to recover from the whiplash?
I’m pretty sure the situation is people are laid off until doge can see where the money is going. If employees can show their worth (as is done in most private sector businesses), they will be allowed to continue in their job(s).
WTF does that even mean? It should say "We apologize for allowing the illegal termination of your position. Please contact us if you're wiling to renegotiate your employment."
I appreciate all who do return and sympathize with everyone who just can't stomach the idea of working for these traitors.
Even though I know I/we would end up paying for it, I strongly encourage anyone "cleared" of being un"fired for not being a total dick" to have several other interesting offers on the table. Maybe renegotiate a bit before returning.
Was this partially a psyop to put fear into these employees. This has got to have caused some of them PTSD or other MH issues. Being fired like this is traumatic. We are in the hands of truly evil humans.
Oh thats nice phraseology. 'Clear to return' makes it sound like they were home on leave of their own accord and not thoughtlessly fired by a clueless meglomaniac billionaire and his tween gang of incels.
If only there was some sort of... organization they were allowed to join that could prevent sudden, wrongful termination without a collective backlash and potential legal ramifications...
Hmm... nope! Not coming up with anything! Best of luck, workers! Hope they don't change their minds again!
Who is the announcer (type of ad?) on PBS -"the presidnt is off to an astonishing start & has Congress in his corner".This is OFFENSIVE- Please take it down- it sounds like trump is doing a great job & all of congress supports his insanity; in the meantime it's a COUP. @amnanawaz.bsky.social

Only thousands if we're lucky.

Worst managers ever
So this is an argument against capitalism.
We saw NONE of this wasteful, hurtful stupidity under Biden.

THAT'S inefficient and wasteful.
At least, that's what I'd do if it were up to me.
No really, we need you back, nobody knows the password for the break room and we're trying to sell the building on Zillow..."
Sure, a few, but who would risk the volatility? Back today but what about next week?
Yeah, "disruption." Who cares about the mental and emotional toll of being fired by an unelected billionaire for political gamesmanship?
The damage is not going away.
I hope they demanded a raise
Were it me, I’d only come back for five years salary and benefits paid up front plus a ginormous, punitive signing bonus. And a raise.
I doubt any of that’s possible or legal - but neither was firing them.
Step 2. See what stops working
Step 3. Hire some back to see if it fixes what broke
Step 4. Profit?
Musk said FU to the CDC folks.
Probably saw some crazy X hoax.
Now he begs them to come back.
You work for him after that attack?
We are officially in the dumbest of timelines.
Also, NPR, I will not donate another nickel until you stop presenting trump's dangerous illegal actions as though they're an innovative experiment.
Now give them their back pay with interest!
After a huge FU like that you might want to fire DODGE; they’re making YOU look dumber than them. 😂😂
They destroyed your stability, and need your expertise.
Now take their MONEY!
I mean I’m glad they got their jobs back but when are they going to get sick time to recover from the whiplash?
🤦♂️

Your confidence should be in question regarding leadership!
