While the U.S. grapples with an egg shortage caused by avian flu, eggs remain plentiful and affordable in Canada. There are reasons for that, including that egg farms there tend to be smaller.

Here in Asia you never see problems like this.
America corruptions mess everything up by their greed and lack of integrity.
We need to go back to basics. Smaller businesses, not big corporations.
Rich and creamy, liquid egg substitute to replace eggs in baking or eat as scrambled eggs. Egg free, cholesterol free, cruelty free, and earth friendly. Each serving replaces 1 chicken egg. Cook just like eggs.
The main reason remains that United Egg Producers -- the egg companies -- are price gouging & using avian flu as an excuse in the U.S., just as U.S. companies price gouged in 2021-2022, claiming covid pandemic supply chain problems caused the price hikes. & now Trump's blocked aid farmers need.
Fun fact 1: Cramming millions of unvaccinated Floridians together spread COVID.
Fun fact 2: Cramming millions of chickens together into a single farm spreads avian flu.
Man do I feel a little vindictive when I hear the Americans who decided they hate us like last month saying we got nothing they want and I go see this at the no frills.
Exactly. Do you want to buy your groceries from one of the Loblaws subsidiaries, Sobeys subsidiaries, Walmart or Costco? That's basically all Canadians can choose from.
Sobeys and Loblaws perform competition kayfabe through dozens of subsidiaries. Both were involved in the bread price fixing.
340!million people here in US. Lots of mouths to feed too. Explains trafe imbalance too. But I guess nly have a HS education from 1982. Nothing like the genius of felon and co. 🤣
So what you are saying is we need less corporate egg farms and monopolies and more family run small farms. 🤔 Hmmm I wonder if there are governmental policies that couls help that happen or like a government department that could help with that.
Yes, and rather than learn from our management system, this is what Trump wants us to give up in his tariff war. We say no thanks to that and his offer to become the 50 something state of confusion.
Agree! I would rather become a province of Canada!!! My health care would cost less, my outcomes would be much better, and my waits would be about the same. I am tired of paying double or triple for 69th in the world medical outcomes.
I've been warning for decades that our hyper-efficient monoculture farming methods were setting us up for food shortages. This is what happens when you put all of your eggs in one basket.
A logically consistent process where all steps and outcomes are coherent and do not lead to contradictions or inconsistencies, eh?
A dozen costs approx $4-5 🇨🇦 or $3.50 US, eh.
Might wanna be careful on that one, once you leave, it's going to become more impossible to get back into, and you're more likely to get detained rather than going through things smoothly.
I have no issues with that, you're more welcome to make your own choice of where you live as long as you know you're in a better place to live with better community and affordable groceries to get.
I eat eggs with a clear conscience. I know the two farmers, their flocks, and their practices. My eggs come from clean, free-walking, mixed-breed flocks.
Lots of "modern" folk, though, would turn up their noses. These eggs are not uniform in size or shell color, and are unwashed when I get them.
True Canadians don’t call it Canadian bacon. They will retort forcefully that it is Back Bacon. I’ve heard one say it. (The article mentioned Canadian bacon.)
"Large commercial farms, with 50,000 to 6 million laying hens, produce over 85% of table eggs in the United States."
-- National Animal Health Emergency Management System
"In Canada, the average egg farm typically houses around 20,000 to 25,000 laying hens..."
-- B.C. SPCA
I understand that city dwellers have limited choices on where they can buy their eggs, but those of us living outside the mega-populated areas need to support smaller, local producers.
An easy first step to address this issue, from a regulation perspective:
The American Egg Board is funded by assessments on egg handlers. Producers w/ fewer than 75,000 hens can request exemption. We should reduce the definition of small handler to 25k and make the exemption auto for under 15k.
Gotta love what run amok capitalism and corporate consolidation has done to us. It’s time to start initiatives to end factory farms and promote smaller, more quality over quantity goods.

Talk about the housing crisis instead 😉

I know "American corruptions" was probably an AutoCorrect gift but it's much more accurate.

No eggs!
No safety!
No peace!
No taxation without representation this current government administration is not doing their JOB!
Canada? OMG. The Russians have much more to offer than eggs. The USA should buy Russia, it’s cheaper …
Fun fact 2: Cramming millions of chickens together into a single farm spreads avian flu.
Only US$2.73 😳
"No Frills" is a grocery store chain here in Canada.

Don’t threaten me with a good time.
NPR obeying in advance continues.
In friendlier times I’d be happy to let my neighbour have a few of my (cheap and plentiful) eggs.
Nowadays… #elbowsup
