Mount Spurr, which scientists say is likely to erupt in the coming weeks or months, is about 80 miles west of Anchorage. But ash clouds could reach the state's biggest city.

As someone who experienced the May 18 1980 eruption of Mt St Helens, we got 6-18" of ash in the yard and would highly suggest respiratory and eye protection! Also, the dogs will be very helpful by tracking all the ash into the house for you to conveniently sweep it up.
I was stationed at Fort Richardson in 92 when it erupted. We were not allowed to be outdoors or start military vehicles but we still had to go to work. My Ford Ranger spit little bits of glass out of the fan for years after that. LoL
Cute, but likely unnecessary. AVO says the likely scenario is raining less than an inch of ash for a few hours.
Yes, will be a mess. But not an ongoing doomsday. Keep the dogs inside during the worst. Set a tarp on a bit of lawn that can be removed to provide a clear pooping place.

Perspective!
Anchorage isn’t messing around with Mount Spurr’s ash threat.
Smart move pets deserve protection too!
I hope that DOGE hasn’t tinkered with NOAA’s online resource for plume modeling.

Of course, Brett will have live coverage and moose reactions if Mt. Spurr erupts. Hoping for Easterly winds .
