I'm sorry, but this is crazy. Luigi Mangione is not a hero, and he is absolutely not a saint. He murdered a man. Full stop. Doesn't matter what Brian Thompson did, a random dude on the street is not allowed to kill him. Everyone is entitled to due process.
If only there was another way to dole out justice to evil men who kill people but are none the less protected by a deeply flawed and corrupt legal system….
Let me explain something to you and I’ll use small words so you can’t misunderstand: when government has become so corrupt that it refuses to prosecute obvious abuses by the rich and powerful despite repeated public outcry, vigilante justice is the only option that remains.
No, I am not fine with CEOs causing peoples deaths. We just have a fundamental disagreement. I don't think vigilante killing should ever be allowed, and I don't think people's murders should be celebrated.
In your feed, it seems you're against Trump disappearing immigrants without due process. But yet you're advocating for the vigilante killing of a man who also didn't get due process. You don't see any contradiction there?
Fair point, I shouldn't have declared Mangione a murderer. He's an alleged murderer. He deserves due process. But some people on here obviously think he did it, and they are celebrating him, and thats something I disagree with.
When there is widespread celebrations for healthcare CEOs being murdered in the street, it's probably a sign that something is fundamentally broken with how healthcare is administered for most people. The public is desperate and angry enough to see violence as completely valid.
I agree. Our healthcare system is completely broken, and people are justified in being angry. But killing people isn't the answer, IMO. B/c when random dudes on the street get to decide who dies, then what's to stop them from killing actual innocent people.
I never said I approve of what Trump is doing to our healthcare agencies. I don't. And I never said I agree with Trump's DOJ pursuit of the death penalty. I am against the death penalty in all cases. What I said was that Thompson deserved due process, and not to be killed by a random dude.
That’s like telling a Mormon to stop talking about Jesus. If we’ve learned anything about Luigi since this all started, it’s that women love him and his existence can be considered flirting.
See the liberals in the photo?
Now ask yourself why Democrats lose.
A gutless, entitled coward shoots a man in the back and this is the response?
Now I wonder why MAGA equates Democrats with Liberals?
This isn't even remotely accurate. He's not a leftist. He's a right wing tech bro who injured his back doing douchebro things. He doesn't give a shit about people's health insurance. He got mad because his perfect white privilege life got taken away from him by his own hand.
It was a mixed bag, but mostly, he's a generational wealth inheriting tech bro who hurt his back doing rich kid douchebro antics, and got made when United wouldnn't cover all his medical costs and his perfect white privilege life got slightly less perfect.
But he's not the far leftist people's avenger that social media makes him out to be. He also was enamored with The Unabomber, and even wrote papers on him.
seems like if it got that bad for a rich guy it is probably infinitely worse for the rest of us and so it’s a universal experience and therefore…justified
Nope. Murder is never justified. If it were, racist piece of shit right wingers could use it as an excuse when they murder immigrants or minorities because they honestly believed it was "for good reason" in their mind. Murder is murder.
'"He was left-wing on some things and right-wing on others,” Bhogal said' not exactly a 'right winger', but absolutely not the person any of the other news outlets are trying to portray. Against wokeness but champion of equality, sounds like an oxymoron?
Because he allegedly killed a rich person, the patriarchy can’t have that. But, mass/school shooters usually on kill peasants, and they don’t care about peasants anymore. They don’t need votes, so the only redeeming qualities that we peasants have is just as taxpayers. They hate us.
Cold blooded killers need punishment. It is also true that health care executives set policies that result in huge bonuses for themselves, enormous profits for their corporations and investors, and prolonged illness, suffering, and premature deaths of thousands of Americans.
Clearly he was under duress after the cruel cruel way the deceased led the terrible treatment of its patrons. Probably had an irreversible impulse to commit the tragic event.
UPDATE: Mangione pleaded not guilty on Friday during his arraignment in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Prosecutors have filed an intent to seek the death penalty.
But he was just a cute, innocent drunk driver who killed a person and got away with it on top of the millions who have died because of his companies policies, he was an innocent life! Children are just ... make another, jeez... !
If the murder of multiple school children isn't punished by death penalty, this is outrageous deferential treatment for a wealthy CEO. Rich white men are not worth more than our precious children.
He did. I'm not challenging that at all. I'm addressing the inequity of applying the death penalty. Multiple times multiple children are executed in their school rooms and those shooters never face death penaltys.
The death penalty is morally inadmissible in every case, and must be abolished. We have alternatives for accountability that uphold human life instead of killing another person.
I think the prosecution pushing for the death penalty was meant to be a deterrent for others, which I think people forget is what the death penalty was about, but, in this case, like everything else they've done, it will backfire. No jury would give him the death penalty.
Pleaded “not guilty” when there were video cameras everywhere that recorded the attack and the murder?? That said, not on board with seeking the death penalty. If Mangione is convicted by a jury, he can go to prison for the rest of his life.
The question of guilt or innocence is for the courts and the jury to decide, not me and not you. #RuleOfLaw #DueProcess Every person accused of a crime (particularly a serious crime) gets their day in court. That is how our system works.
They are right. Thousands of people die because they are denied coverage for things they shouldn’t be. John Grisham didn’t write his novel about it out of nowhere. However, vigilante justice is not okay.
They want to make an example out of him. They want to frighten everyone. This is how they do. That's the reason we haven't yet risen up against them, right? Because we're all a little bourgeois around the edges? Luigi couldn't have killed him. He was at my house watching reruns of that '70s show.
I meant the rest of us. Fear, and the fear of loss of material goods, answers the questions of why this has been allowed to go on as long as it has. They are after all the 1%. That means there is 99% of us who are just cowering in fear allowing this and many other injustices to continue.
So why are they still in power? Why has a legal immigrant been sent to a prison camp for terrorists? Why has the judge been arrested for not jailing an immigrant? They may be losing favor, but that's not the point. The point is that the people should have acted just the way they did on January 6th.
We dummies left it up to our "loyal opposition" party to prevent this shit. They did not. I don't even care what the reason is; if I fail to perform at my job, I GET FIRED.
The wealthy won't respect us, so maybe they should fear us instead. We have to worry about our kids getting shot at school or many of us getting gunned down just shopping for groceries. But no, of course not - that will not do. Luigi will be the example to the serfs.
President Rump's lies and mismanagemnt of the Covid19 crisis contributed to the deaths of an estimated 450 THOUSAND people who would have survived if the government handled the response properly. He was never punished for this.
And you think 1 murder should get the dealth penalty? Seriously?
Completely relevant: It is a basic principle of a modern legal system that the punishment must be proportionate to the crime. You cannot believe that a person should be put to death for committing one murder, when we have MANY examples of people killing far more than that, who are punished less.
Seeking the death penalty in this case is politically motivated, and it has nothing to do with the actual proportionality of the crime. It destroys the credibility of the entire justice system if this is being seriously entertained.
Our judgement matters quite a lot actually. A court of law didn't save Brian Thompson. Even their attempts to seek the death penalty are a sign of fear, not a sign of strength.
I want backgrounds on EVERY SINGLE juror that is selected, and you can black out their personal information as the publisher to keep them from being doxxed, to ensure that this is an impartial jury.

not to pursue action against Trump University,

Ok, bootlicker.
Now fix the government and/or legal system so that they don’t have to take the law into their own hands to get just results.
The fact that Luigi killed a CEO doesn’t surprise me. What surprises me is that more people haven’t.
Luigi didn’t murder the CEO; he committed justifiably homicide to prevent the serious harms and/or death of thousands of innocent people.
You value the life of the CEO over the lives of everyone who his death protected.
And that is exactly why the rich rule the USA.
Luigi stopped a mass murderer and scared other mass murderers.
Luigi did nothing wrong.
People on the internet: "Oh my! Someone doesn't know his place. We should use death penalty to teach society how to behave!"
Now ask yourself why Democrats lose.

Perhaps we can start rewriting the lyrics to "I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night".
He recalls Mangione mentioning he was a champion of equality but opposed to DEI, wokeness, and identity politics.
'"He was left-wing on some things and right-wing on others,” Bhogal said' not exactly a 'right winger', but absolutely not the person any of the other news outlets are trying to portray. Against wokeness but champion of equality, sounds like an oxymoron?

Wisconsin has chosen not to have a death penalty anyway. Sorry that choice didn't work out for you pro-death penalty people.
That said, Pam Bondi is an absolute pos to declare the death penalty for this guy after cop killers (1/6 & other) were pardoned!
We just cannot continue to have two sets of laws in this nation!
"When the looting starts the shooting starts".
more killing of killers would help!
Despite outward appearances, this will not work out well for Pam and The Donald.
All of whom are losing the favor of their constituencies.
"99%"? NO. I haven't met anyone in real life who isn't a shit-for-brains MAGA who's not fighting mad over what is transpiring.
