Everyone around him likes to feed his ego.

A Republican lawmaker has introduced a bill to make Trump’s birthday a federal holiday. They refer to Trump as a “founder” and compare him to George Washington.

None of the broligarchs knows what they’re talking about. They’re just hot air, spewing what sounds smart to them but is actually a telltale sign of ignorance.

Forbes has been tracking how government officials really get wealthy for years. Spoiler alert: there are plenty of perfectly legal ways to do it. My latest for @forbes.com here: www.forbes.com/sites/kylemu...

For any Republicans out there-- don't you see what's happening? Your elected officials, drunk with power, are quietly and quickly getting filthy rich. And in exchange, they're cutting your Medicaid, cutting your education funding, cutting SNAP benefits, cutting medical research.

@sanders.senate.gov: "You're looking at enormous power & wealth in the hands of a small number of people who could care less about working class people... They suffer from the addiction of greed. You got $50 billion? Ain't enough. We got to cut SS so I can get a tax break and maybe get $55 billion."

This is the way.

Gutting the CDC right as we’re on the cusp of major outbreaks of transmissible diseases is a very bad idea.

Cans of tuna sold by major grocery chains in 27 states have been recalled by the Tri-Union Seafoods company over concerns a manufacturing defect with their easy-pull tab lids could allow the clostridium botulinum toxin, which causes botulism, to contaminate the product.

Staffers at the government arm responsible for maintaining core tech systems were concerned that such broad access for the former Tesla engineer now in charge would violate security measures.

27 religious groups are suing the federal government in response to the Trump administration's policy giving immigration agents more leeway to make arrests at "sensitive locations" like churches.

In a strongly-worded letter to Catholic bishops in the United States, Pope Francis is taking to task the Trump Administration's stance on migrants, and that he's following what he calls a "major crisis" with the initiation of mass deportation.

JUST IN: The remaining employees at the General Services Administration are being warned that their work will be heavily monitored, from their swipes into the office to what they type on their computers.

Musk and other Silicon Valley executives have long railed against the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau for its work overseeing the tech industry. Now, Musk hopes to eliminate the agency.

A coalition of news organizations said in a court filing that video exhibits from a Jan. 6 riot case had "disappeared" from a government platform that provided access to evidence used in court.

@raskin.house.gov: "We're already hearing now, with [Trump] pulling the plug on USAID, that China is moving in-- to say that 'they don't want to help you, but we're happy to help you.'"

The department tracks student achievement, manages college financial aid and sends K-12 schools money to support students with disabilities and lower-income communities, among other things.

Exactly.

Jan 6 must be fully & conclusively adjudicated in a court of law if this country is to ever move forward. They can't just wish it away unless we let them.

Remember when Trump swept into office amid promises to lower costs? Well...

The joke is on us.

Trump has ordered the National Institutes of Health to cancel their review panels on cancer research. “The impact of [Trump’s] collective executive orders appears devastating,” one senior NIH employee says.

She said, “May I ask you to have mercy Mr. President on those in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away." If Mike Johnson thinks that’s “radical,” perhaps he has a fundamental misunderstanding of his own religion.

The “free speech defenders,” ladies and gentlemen.

"There was no justice done here... Violent criminals are now being returned to their neighbourhoods." Former Capitol police officer Winston Pingeon says President Trump's pardoning of January 6 rioters means "political violence has effectively gotten a free pass". #Newsnight
