Well, having interviewed for my own job (rather, the longer-term adjunct version of it) teaching military history, I did not get chosen for my own job, but since I'm teaching other courses with the same department, I will continue doing the job for which I was not chosen.

Kind of a bummer.
This was, by the by, the course for which a former student made me a destroyer as thanks.
Unrelated, but I'd been meaning to say, this way a few months back (maybe more than a few?) but I saw your book out in the wild on the shelves at my little local bookstore. Glad to see its clearly been popular!
And the student didn't pick a Fletcher at random either, but because I had used it as an example a bunch in class and waxed lyrical about the three Fletchers at the Battle off Samar.
For some forgotten history, try "Fighting for MacArthur" by John Gordon.
And then when I asked to keep doing it, they took the courses away, in case you were worried that departments rewarded loyalty at all.
Solidly out of ideas.
Is the structural fix more money for history departments in general?
Its a legacy of when the market was much tighter decades ago...
