Just wondering, how do you get into Short Trips? Who do I need to murder? I want to be the first Spaniard ever to write in Doctor Who. I entered the Paul Spraggs competition but someone else won... someone who had a better idea than I did, SO IT'S FAIR, but I want to try over and over.

There was some advice way back in the Wilderness years: don’t pitch for or in response to the storylines that are coming out now. Pitch your best thing. If you’re picked, you’ll work with your editor on fitting in (or not).

There’s a story about that with my short trip, which might make the extras.

The other advice that was as good then as it is now is don't focus on writing Doctor Who - concentrate on becoming a writing. There's loads more places out there that will buy Who-ish stories, and the more work you have out there, the more likely BF are to say yes if you ask.

Several of these latest writers were Big Finish Paul Spragg competition entrants.

All entries get read, there's only one winner, and we don't do "runners-up". Their not-quite-first-place entries showed great promise, so I approached them for a fresh proposal.

The 2025 comp launches in May.

Hah, too bad I wasn't an almost winner. Yeah, I know eveything is anonymous, as it should be! I liked how fair and straight the rules were, I normally don't participate in competitions like this because of possible cheats, I was glad to see Big Finish followed very strict indications to avoid this.
