If the US is serious about protecting people’s data from ending up in the hands of foreign adversaries, Congress should toss out the TikTok ban and instead pass comprehensive data privacy legislation to prevent the collection of data in the first place.

Truth be told, there are so many ways around the parental controls (and the kids / or the kids’ friends know them) that any one control software is not enough.
For example, the notes on a shared Google document the kids need access to for school.
TBF, American social media companies are not allowed to operate in china, no reason it shouldn’t be the same.
I don’t see why the FCA of 1934 couldn’t be updated to add foreign social media companies alongside broadcast licenses. Other than congress’s laziness.
Thats not cable channels, newspapers, blogs or apps.
Instead of that you can have a systematic solution, which will give you easy way to ban every rotten platform not respecting data protection law.
