Gonna delete this in a second, but man, neurodivergent kid bingo is like:
- “everyone has a diagnosis these day!”
- “I’d have ADHD too if I grew up with screens”
- “did you try anything else before you tried medication?” [no, Mary, I went straight to amphetamines]
- “Pickiness is created by parents”
- “everyone has a diagnosis these day!”

It has been so helpful for them as adults but would have been even more beneficial as children
“Mom, I got it from you” It would have helped me too
(It’s me, I have a diagnosis and that’s why I fucked it up)
Also the amount of ppl who were like "did you try other things?" Yeah, Barbara, I did for 35 years. Turns out the amphetamines were the key.
But I’m not so confident about that anymore.
not sure what it's like in our northern neighbor (so sorry for our boorish POS president I wouldn't vote for him if you put a gun to my head) but here in the states there was a long list of "before medication"
Went for a checkup in Tennessee and APRN was like “oh you said you’re on amphetamines here’s four prescriptions in my handwriting on regular paper!”
i don't think any parent actually wants to try to administer medications to their child every day
there's already way too much to do!!
you are spot on about the absurdity of the people making these comments.
It highlights (and hence validates) the micro-aggression that such speech is.
Um, really!? Bec neither of his parents have yet....
And even if he does, what is he supposed to do in the meantime!?
