GIven the undersea cables (and now Gotland water supply) sabotage, the Hybrid war has been going on for some time. I expect it to get worse, even operations here in the UK too. Nothing spectacular, just lots of annoying stuff to degrade public services.

Well the thing is, they aren't really allied with Putin's Russia. They just have a cuckoo government that is. It'll hold for a while, but the tension between those two things means it won't remain stable for that long.

He was elected for 4 years, more than enough time to change the world order and do untold damage. Like it or not, he is the legitimate US president and therefore the US is currently allied with Putin's Russia. By the time "normality" is restored, the world will be a very different place.

He's the US president, but in ignoring decisions made by Congress we can have a pretty robust discussion about the application of "legitimate".

I hate to mention that he's the commander in chief so unless there's mutiny, the armed forces will do as ordered. And he's already causing deaths by shutting down aid programmes... He's legitimately in power (sadly) and will use it for untold harm.

Whilst I agree with you I’m not sure we really have a good strategy to directly counter. We can of course play whackamole on what they do but funding similar in Russia is tricky due to putins adversaries always seem to weirdly fall out of buildings or eat radioactive chemicals.

It's not as if this will just target Ukraine either.

They will continue to target Europe with at least hybrid warfare, perhaps gaining more Hungaries/Slovakias, perhaps another Brexit, certainly continuing to erode European unity.
