The taboo about talking about this among liberals and progressives is going to have to change. It's not anti-feminist. It's an empirically measurable socioeconomic crisis among young men. Young women are richer, more economically upwardly mobile, and own more homes than young men.

In our crisis of men, men worship anti-heroes. These anti-heroes sell them on the conspiratorial idea that what really matters in politics is what you can't see. What's corrosive about it isn't that it’s misguided, but that it declares politics impossible.

What the young men need to do is STFU and work hard!

Women have been graduating at higher rates since 1995 and the gap is growing. That still hasn't translated into earning more than men though.
So, it's NOT anti-feminist to talk about changing things?
It is anti-feminist. And these men haven’t had to deal with losing their body autonomy or the fire hose of misogyny that’s a key component of the MAGA movement. Give me a break.
It's not a question of responsibility, its a question of compassion and community.
And when I see the “your body, my choice” crowd I find it hard to garner sympathy for (some) young men when they openly threaten rape and think it’s funny.
The author here has no idea how being a woman in this society is suddenly terrifying, but we’re lectured about centering men.
But now, our culture blames the boys instead of meeting their needs.
I'm on the left and I recognize the problem with schools and boys.
I'm on the left and I don't blame myself for how other people vote.
Why do right-wingers blame the left for the decisions that right-wingers make, instead of taking personal responsibility?
Meaning, put simply, a progressive shift in some dimension will be followed by a regressive shift, then progressive again, etc, looking just like a wave. The period of the wave can of course vary a lot, but...

In fact, the trans community, in particular, has some excellent insights into how sexism negatively impacts people since they have experienced both sides.

The root cause seems to be individual choices, since men are making the choice not to pursue education and to go to jail.
- women are more resistant to bombast.
- women are more practical in terms of life planning.
Professional level:
- women are more able to be constructive and cooperative, so do a better job in the huge mid-management layer than many men can, and companies are realizing this.
The solution to inadequate ambition, self discipline, and motivation in males is NOT to punish these traits in females. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
This analysis needs more nuance.
More seriously it's possible that many young men miss being in charge.
Young men are making terrible decisions.
After 100s of years being held back, women got some freedom, took it, & ran with it. The (mostly) white male red state response? Banning books & abortions. Coincidentally (😒), these states tend to have high maternal mortality/poverty.
