Anyone who praises him effusively, remains in his circle & the reverse is true.
Putin, during his days with KGB 'Active Measures', studied the weaknesses of his opponents. So, with Trump, he uses flattery to get his way.

Trump may very well be all of the above but the GOP is allowing him to remove all the powers of Congress. He has SCOTUS in his pocket, social media to play to his every whim. There is no handbrake to his destruction. Project 2025 is up and running.

CNBC and Bloomberg have hosted serious CEOs, fund managers, analysts and economists these past few weeks who have all spoken about Trump's strategy as if Trump has a plan and isn't pulling these policies out of his ass each day. They seem to take Trump at his word just as much as the MAGA crowd.

It is the ‘Art of the Deal’. Impose pressure (bully) the other party into agreeing to your deal. However maximum pressure is relieved at the last moment in order that they then see the deal as reasonable & sign.Hence 50% tariffs threatened then reduced. Intelligence/Weapons 4 Ukraine stopped/started

We’re not there yet. These headline grabbing figures being thrown around are all part of the negotiations. The deal will be nearer to what we’d all think of as acceptable/sensible. Undoubtedly with a tilt towards what Trump thinks is a win.

Morning James , brilliant show this morning .Jung Chang , co authored a biography of Mao ( she also wrote wild swans) . Chao’s and distraction are part of the dictator’s armoury . Retaining power is his ultimate aim , regardless of the consequence’s to anyone else .

Is it insanity, or are they just throwing spaghetti at the wall hoping something sticks? I’m not sure that chaos isn’t the thing with this government. They seem to thrive on press, good or bad, and are quite happy to ignore the repercussions of what they are doing!

I guess my point is more it’s simple incompetence, rather than insanity. I don’t know I could say they are insane, but I can definitely say they are incompetent and cruel, and use bluster and outrage to cover themselves at every turn. I can’t help but feel damage and chaos is the thing they want!
