I tend to agree, they haven’t helped themselves, and they can still do things to help reduce inheritance tax, and further there needs to be a fundamental reviews of the supply chain if farmers are really struggling while supermarkets rake in record profits.

I just spent a lovely fortnight in the Dales, and most of the farms I saw seem to have other revenue streams, mostly a converted barn or some yurts they rent out, and they all sell black market eggs.. hey, maybe we should start taxing red diesel too?

If the income from farming is so low why are farms worth so much? Because they are used as investment opportunities. Like housing, it seems lovely to own something which is worth a lot on paper but that over valuing has tax implications

Watched Clarksons Farm and have to say loved, excellent at showing how little money is in farming. That being said I agree, if you voted Brexit and this is now affecting you badly .. people have to accept it. We all tried & tried to tell people how bad it would be.. now sadly truth is hitting home

1. Removing IHT pushed up land values as land became a tax dodge.
2. They only pay on the very biggest farms.
3. even those that pay get a reduced rate compared to everyone else and 10 years to pay.

So suck it up and stop the entitled whining.
