The Independent has an article where they describe the salute as "odd-looking" and "ill-advised". HOW HAS JOURNALISM REACHED A POINT WHERE THEY CANNOT ACCURATELY DESCRIBE A THING THAT HAPPENED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THEM

NYT: Some say Mr. Trump's Executive Orders are enacting harm upon the trans community, but others say it is not so simple. To Mr. Rufo, the president's actions are no more than a leader "purging this Godly kingdom of mutant undesirables."
this is Maggie Haberman's entire coverage: "Elon Musk spoke briefly at the rally at the Capital One Arena and vowed to take DOGE, his cost-cutting effort, “to Mars.”"
You're fucking Jewish, Maggie, you dim-witted nepobaby! They hate you just as much as the rest of us!
I think that it’s because of this, where Trump won $10M on the most pedantic technicality imaginable. As LegalEagle implies here, we may be entering an age where journalists are even more scared to speak truth to power, now that overt reprisal is on the board.
Make no mistake: I’m not excusing this. It’s ridiculously fucking bleak and I hate it. We are in a truly loathsome state of affairs and I think it’s truly time for many of us to consider fleeing, my wife and I included.
The most profitable news is just vague insinuations that describe things in the most amorphous ways possible so as to avoid alienating any potential readers. Focus group min/maxing to say the least offensive possible thing.
