Also fascinating that the uncle’s declaration of he was a fine warrior who knew how to kill people got played in coverage vs. the he was a huge piece of shit who beat his girlfriends and was recently left by the mother of his newborn because she no longer wanted to be a human punching bag.
A search on 'Livelsberger domestic abuse' on Google came up with nothing. Not sure why you are saying this. I know they guy lightly injured 7 people but he clearly also served his nation and had PTSD because of it, don't see any reason to make him out to be worse than he was, which turned out bad
Confirming: You are not wrong. In my experience, practitioners working for the VA do the best they can with what they have, but the resources they have are absolute shit, especially with mental health and service-related chronic illness.
It’s not the VA, it’s the military service itself—it’s the highest predictor of extremist crime & “mass casualty offenses”.
(Overall the VA has a high rate of approval from vets, including healthcare—VA hospitals continually beat out private facilities in patient satisfaction, etc).
The past service is probably not as surprising as some people make it out to be. Millions of Americans pass through service, attacks are in the dozens, and the military makes you familair with killing, that is there job.

It’s not just a random effect though, extremism within active military has been a problem for decades that’s been ignored to keep enlistment up. These extremists can kill a lot of people, as we saw with Timothy McVeigh.
Yes well military service makes people familiar with weapons and since 2001 military service has been a one way ticket to PTSD. Americans are lucky it is as rare as it is, imagine what the next 10 years in Russia will be like.
Americans aren’t lucky our military (which has been giving members PTSD long before this century) is full of extremists who try to kill us infrequently, because extremism isn’t a normal part of militaries or a forgone conclusion of completing service—it can & should be prevented.
Calling for Democrats to be driven out of D.C. by militias is merely "a struggle." Someone else wrote about their struggle, and we know how that ended *sigh*
Was the LV guy intending to hurt others? I thought his note said it “was not a terrorist attack”? I understand the concern over media bias but I’m not understanding how it applies here yet based on what I’ve seen.
The problem is the framing. One guy was “radicalized” and an ISIS sympathizer while the other (LV guy) is portrayed much more sympathetically as suffering from various struggles. Nevermind that LV guy was also calling for Dems to be “culled” through mass violence and espousing other extremist views.
Ty. I was wondering why the media wasn’t reporting on the first section. That is outrageous. The second part though really shows this guy was mentally gone. That is alarming considering he was active duty!!!
Yes! I just read the first section is absolutely outrageous and worthy of in depth journalistic exposure. I fully expect all hell to break loose within minutes of the inauguration. Terrifying.
I can't imagine someone loading up a car with flammable and explosive materials and lighting it in front of the entrance to a hotel in a heavily populated area without the intention of harming others. People don't have to die for it to be a terrorist attack.
Detonating a truck at the front entrance of a hotel seems like it’s not exactly minimizing the chance of injury. And other people *were* hurt in the explosion. There was no way for him to know how badly they’d be hurt.
Because he shot a ceo and freaked out the ruling class and they wanted to hit him with as many charges as they could so none of us got any bright ideas.
If I hated Woke (which I do not) and I killed someone who worked for diversity because they were promoting woke I would be exposed to anti-terror laws like anyone else.
I'm not surprised, the New York Times has been pumping out transphobia as well for a hot minute. Their journalistic integrity is laughable, even the school newspaper I write for does better.
So he wanted to harm Dems by attacking Trump Towers with a Musk Cybertruck in a way they would clearly find out he did it and not accuse democrats precisely how?
you must admit even if the bomb had a chance to kill people it was not going to kill any dems there
I was referring to his minifesto where he called on his fellow masculines to descend on DC and purge it of all Dems. The point was the headlines treated the incidents SO differently but there was a dangerous ideology behind both. The racist just called for other people to do the dirty work for him.
This country is so fucking annoying and casually bigoted. Don't we have more War on Terror veterans committing mass shootings than "Islamic Extremists"?
Even if it's wrong (it probably isn't), @mtsw.bsky.social 's theory of how to understand the media these days is more accurate than any other explanation.
There are only a few ways to radicalize irrespective of the adopted ideology or beliefs. Claiming it’s ISIS is as interesting as claiming it’s Ozzy Osborn or video games. Why was the person primed? What is the root cause of the radicalization? But I’m a liberal so WTF do I know.
Right now it seems lots of people are willing to say that anyone who voted for Trump who makes a bomb is a terrorist. Though I despise Trump I hope the FBI keeps to better methods.
Right wing media tells these people that they're constantly under threat of attack; caravans, litter boxes, happy holidays, gender surgery for school kids... If I believed the stuff coming out of Republican and red pill circles, I'd go crazy, too.

How is NOLA "terrorism" But white supremacists flowing the way Walmart's grocery stores and churches aren't?
For the other: okay there’s no reason for it to be so near fawning.
Try harder.

you must admit even if the bomb had a chance to kill people it was not going to kill any dems there
But I will await the final conclusion of the FBI on this before I start making my own conclusions about such a strange act of terrorism.
It looks crazy to many people because it dosen't make a lot of sense.
Jabbar was a terrorist, pure and simple.
Mangione is a terrorist pure and simple.
Right now Livelsberger might be a terrorist, but not so clear cut
These two are hardly comparable.
Anyways people want to make political hay out of all this
That's next level. Guess it must have just been one of those freak spontaneous kerblooooies that happens from time to time
"How the US Army radicalizes people today."
You can't prod people's amygdalae like that.
Tell someone the guy next to him is a thief and he'll be distracted long enough that you can pick his pocket.
