I'm of two minds about it. Work of this quality deserves the reverence of a museum, but the workers who use those trains for their daily grind in the gears of capitalism deserve to have their morning brightened by glimpsing beauty like this.

Then there's the work of fabric artist Nick Cave (not the singer) rendered in mosaic at 42nd st. I think it's still there. If you walk though the little used tunnel to the B/D line you can watch a video of dancing figures dressed in Cave's costumes.
