In a major win for trans people in the country, liberals win in Canada. There was serious concern that a Pierre Polievre victory would have resulted in the same dramatic crackdowns on trans people there that we have seen in the US.
Trans people in Canada can rest easily now.

Also, there are more pro trans Conservative Party of Canada MPs than their are pro trans Labour MPs
Despite a very loud minority trans rights just aren't very controversial here
But, the Dem leadership would just be Conservative up here. And the current Labour leadership would probably end up there as well due to being too socially conservative for the Liberal Party to stomach.

WHEW.
(Weirdly though, technically Alberta is still better than a lot of provinces for trans rights as long as their an adult and aren't into organized sports...I wouldn't count on it staying that way, but their brief NDP government was very good)

The UK was forced kicking and screaming into accepting trans people's rights 25 years ago due to a European Court ruling. They didn't do it willingly.
It's going to need another EC ruling to undo the latest damage here.
There's still a lot of gross transphobic sentiment in Canada but I don't think Carney is going to pull the same shit as Starmer here
Progressive Conservative Style Conservatives - Generally socially liberal, fiscally conservative.
Reform Party Style Conservatives - you gotta worry about these assholes

And prov gov’ts have far more effect on our daily lives than the Feds :-(
Ain't no way the NDP can hold a fight either.

*We're all basically leftist/socialist so cheering for Libs still felt icky, but we were voting for our survival so 🤷♀️
I just wonder if they'll work with the Bloc Quebec's to form a coalition or not, CPC won't work with them for sure
