I’d have been fired long ago, and probably prosecuted, for doing what Clarence Thomas has been getting away with.
In my California district, there are no gift restrictions tied to my tenure. This is something I’ve never read about before.
If anything, I’ve always been discomfited by colleagues openly speaking of wanting to teach in our district’s richer areas for better gifts…
