you see human heads dont do backflips and spin like tops when i shoot their torso off. hot dog heads do and then they explode into starchy goodness afterwards
“Sosigs should be replaced with humans” is such a depressingly whimsiless take, they’re so perfect.
Any disbelief can be suspended when the enemies are smack-talking weiners. They’re one giant tube of *hit feedback* that makes them engaging where humans wouldn’t be.
Just supremely tired of people saying it's a 'waste' that the best gun sim game only has hot dogs in it.
You know what's a fucking waste? Your lack of imagination. Your utterly absent sense of humor. Your inability to appreciate playful absurdism. That's what's a waste.
Makes me wonder if they've never snapped a sosig's neck, stabbed them with their own knife while whispering "Shh shh shh shh it's okay now" or tore them in half over heard while letting out a battle cry... Because that shit it way WAY funner with a hotdog than it ever would be with human enemies.
Honestly I think a VR sandbox game that gave me a hyper-detailed weapons simulation and then pitted me against realistically rendered humans with zero context as to why I was fighting them other than Hey Its A Gun Sandbox Have Some Targets would feel really gross! The Hotdogs make it all in good fun
Also I think having a nice spread of games that let you shoot things that aren't humans is good for your brain. Go shoot demons, or play a real hunting game where you can shoot deer or something, fuck man, have you played a fishing game? Sometimes a man just wants to not shoot people?
Truly, even aside from the fact that you don't want to do that, I've never understood the interest. The sosigs are great! I love them! Weiners-down my favourite enemy in a game, from the way they bleed mustard to the dumb little jokes they make.
sosigs are so baked (more likely boiled/microwaved) into h3s identity that I can't imagine people who say they would prefer humans have played the game that much
While plenty of other VR games have human targets, the sheer depth of gun simulation in H3 plus shootable humans would probably draw a ton of negative press from the MSM
I've seen a few VR games on Steam that have realistic violence and gore against human NPCs as a selling point, and that just doesn't appeal in VR, and I used to love Soldier of Fortune back in the day.
The whimsical tone of H3VR with the sosigs mixed with the realistic guns is why I love it.
I used to give a presentation where I would ask which three fantasies people would like to see fulfilled in a game and after giving everyone a few minutes to write down their answer I would ask the audience how many people included murder.
The things we ACTUALLY want to do are rare in games
1. Fall in love with someone
2. Go on a journey that makes me look at my own life in a new light.
3. Discover something meaningful that no one else has ever seen
I'm glad. One of the only games in my entire life that made me cry, and STILL to this day makes me cry every damn time. I don't know how they did it. Also love Andrew Prahlow's soundtrack.
I love the good old fashioned super murder death games as much as anyone else but I can agree that sometimes what the soul needs is a fulfilling journey that makes you question things. Last game to really do that was Analogue: A Hate Story, at least for me.
i still want to see a stealth game where the way the game discourages you from just murdering everyone is to make the acts of violence really slow and profoundly uncomfortable.

Keep your own vision for the game alive, to me it's the reason H3 is my favorite VR game (and one of my favorites period)

It would be weird to fantasize about killing someone! I wish we were more open in talking about that part of game design.
