In fact, states that didn’t cooperate sufficiently in capturing and repatriating fugitive slaves were subject to sanction iirc. And private bounty hunters crossing state lines. Oh, also, btw, modern policing is believed by historians to descend more or less directly from fugitive slave patrols.

But some did cooperate to a degree which was unacceptable. ICE also uses bounty hunters (came across them in 2008 at a foreclosure I was doing a punch out list on) and skip tracers/ing to hunt targets.

I agree with you in spirit but one reason to be zero tolerance on doxxing is who knows if the doxxing is accurate. It's always possible to incorrectly identify someone and start a witch hunt. If they pick and choose now they are on the hook when it goes sideways.
