Managed to buy some essentials (all payment systems down, only cash), and Ari enjoyed an unexpected school-free afternoon with mum and dad. She loved the candlelight dinner and bath, very princesslike, 11/10, no notes from her.

I guess everyone had pandemic flashbacks yesterday. Everyone I met was calm, no chaos, no reported incidents. A lot of zombie and ww3 jokes. Driving with traffic lights off was fun. We still had water and gas, so Ari's bath was warmed old style, as befitting a princess.
we were planning to do the last leg of a move, so were driving around in Barcelona with a big van, lots of fun in the anarchy called "traffic" :) At least we had a radio I suppose
I used to deal with blackouts a lot when I lived in a more remote area -- with the exception of some leftovers, most of your food will be fine after one day in the fridge uncooled.
At the time, I guessed Russia. Not the first or last act of sabotage of European civilian infrastructure; testing the waters and intimidating NATO in general (if such a thing still exists).

You're very welcome! The last time electricity was cut for several days in France was during the 1999 storms! I was 8! I had no idea how I would react to such an event now, so kudos for handling it like you guys did.
After a recent outage I picked up some Bluetooth thermometers for my fridge and freezer so I can track their overnight temperatures if there’s ever an outage (especially while I’m out of town).
You can get a two pack plus a hub (for syncing over internet) for like $60. Worth it for peace of mind

I still have to summon the courage to open the fridge and see if our food had turned into a fungus lab...
Now they just have to explain how 60% of total power in the country disappears in 5 seconds, and how to prevent it next time.
Russians, Aliens, Russian aliens?

He favored the old mercury ones, though.
