It just feels like a massive waste of time and effort for Macron and Starmer to fly to Washington thinking there's some way they can get Agent Krasnov to betray his paymasters back in Moscow

I think there's some value in just getting a personal sense of where things are going in D.C., and a traditionalist would want to make the effort.
Personally, I think we're past the point where a traditionalist can handle President Krasnov but I can see the value in personally assessing the idiot.
Haven't seen it confirmed but there are reports that Starmer has invited Trump to Balmoral. Don't think it will be a State Visit but it's offensive that it will be to Scotland. If it happens there will be huge protests.
It's ridiculous. Just like Canadian premiers running to Washington. The more you look subservient, the more he will beat you down. You don't see Mexico doing that.
the fucker behind there backs went to china to make deal to cut militaries in half china is prolly like
"look at this fool ,ya tell em sure you cut first"
Starmer will probz be gone soon. I give him 18 months. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s 6. He’s a weak politician with weak ideas. Macron only has 2 years left & is sadly the closest thing Europe has to a leader right now. He’s for a European military & to some extent knows how to flatter the manbaby.
"Starmer will probz be gone soon. I give him 18 months. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s 6." - and just how do you work that one out?
Don't believe the bollocks you've been fed - the only way he can be forced out is with a vote of no confidence.
And that is so not going to happen with the Lab majority
They'll need to bring in their briefcases better kompromat than Russia's kompromat. Doesn't seem possible. Not when Krasnov has been Russia's mole for over forty years.
I guess it’s one final attempt before they have to rally the EU for policies that won’t require any Trumper US involvement. Pretty sad we’re now in the “axis of evil”.
Yeah. Europe collectively needs to have a non US plan for everything they hope to accomplish on the continent. Putin owns the US now. I would use the EU Nations intelligence services to release everything they have on Putin and Trump, though.
And yet…and yet…I applaud them because it’s the right thing to do. And because the world is watching! And, please note, those who hold positions of leadership: we expect you to step up; insist on what’s right; demonstrate character and integrity. And - we have long memories!
I read the Guardian UK and sometimes listen to Pod Save the UK. (And as you can see by my icon also Liverpool FC stuff, which is thankfully not political!) Do you have other recommendations? I have no serious problems with Starmer myself.
Starmer and Macron are degrading themselves by going to the feet of the self-appointed (mad) king. They already know everything they need to know about him - he is not being subtle.
Perhaps they simply want to avoid being accused of sitting back and letting things happen. They'll certainly get better clarity on what next steps they need to take.

But there's also a subtle dig (too subtle for Trump to get unless it's written in Sharpie capitals...)
Trump will not be offered state visits to the UK & France as a convicted felon.
1/2
There would be *massive* social unrest in both countries if he was offered State Visits.
Or any visits, even private, to his golf courses here.
Pretty damn sure that the Scottish Government (who I think he still owes £275k to in legal costs) will enforce the no felons clause to his visa...
I don’t know about you but when i see historical opposites team up, imma hoping it is to kick some ass (sad i know to be a hold-out optimist)
Why do all the people pundits think USA holds all the cards?
They don’t
"look at this fool ,ya tell em sure you cut first"
that unemployment with be heavy riots

We’re talking about the end of a 7+ decades alliance.
Ideally they meet with Agent Krasnov and then spend the rest of the time meeting with resistance agents.
Like, their own kompromat!
Starmer is not perfect, but he was dealt a truly dreadful hand by the Conservanazis.
The BBC is biased and unreliable, and the majority of the rest of the MSM are either owned by Murdoch or RW Murdoch wannabes...
