i think the democratics party strategy of appealing to no one but the people they’re supposedly running against to defeat while alienating their own base is probably going to work out long term

It worked one for Bill Clinton and they really really believe it’s a good idea because it allows them to act exactly how they wanted to act anyway so they’ll never stop.
It's cool cause we will have a right wing Republican party, a right wing Democrat party and then what ever replaces the Democrats will eventually become right wing too
I don't feel alienated at all. Biden stepping down was the first time I actually felt heard, I didn't think he stood a chance against Trump a second time. Kamala, on the other hand, actually makes me enthusiastic to vote.
Yup, the Democrats legalizing gay marriage, repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell, and introducing the Trans Rights Act bill were so such a suppression to social change...
It’s incredible the mediocrity you’re allowed to get away with when your main opposition has the same qualities and morals of a shallow blockbuster movie villain.
Does seem like some of the left feel if a Democratic candidate appeals to disaffected Republicans, it means they aren't offering anything for their base. And this just seems way oversimplified. I'm a progressive, and while I'm not getting everything I want, I'm satisifed with Kamala.
I also think some of the left waaaay exaggerate the support base for the policies they want. Personally I'd love single payer healthcare, way higher taxes on the rich, strict gun control, etc, but I do understand not everyone agrees with me. And compromise is key when it comes to national elections
And I get that isn't fun or sexy. Progress rarely is. But I am a bit tired of seeing those on the left always, always, always letting perfect be the enemy of the good. And some of those people are exactly why we got Trump in 2016, when the hardcore Bernie voters either swapped to Trump or abstained
Agreed, I stumped Bernie hard during the primaries, pick progressives in every primary where I have a choice and vote for vote reform, like ranked choice, when possible. But we live in an imperfect system. I think it is wild that Biden delivered so many Union wins, major infrastructure changes and..
A bunch of other legitimately progressive policies, yet because we don't get everything it's a travesty. Biden appointed Lina Kahn for christ's sake. And the Justice Department is investigating multiple companies for Anti-trust.
But because Kamala is trying to make a case of bi-partisan unity around Trump's fascistic tendencies, instead of going all in on progressive policies that would require extensive education of the voting electorate to gain ground in the key states, we decide "they are trying to lose".
Can’t quite comprehend how our Labour Party has managed to inject their objectively terrible strategy into your country’s only hope not to crash and die
"Just because every single election is the most important election of your lifetime with democracy itself hanging in the balance is no reason not to trust in incrementalism!"
