Because people actually DID make money on Bitcoin and such back when it was new and not really known. The scammers hadn't moved in on it yet. HOWEVER, now that it is widely known scammers are infesting it, and people still hope they can make money like in the early days.
If ppl see a chance to get rich, even if it's an obvious scam, they're gonna go for it. Its why people have gambling addictions. No amount of money loss is gonna teach em.
Because they don't watch the news they watch Joe Rogen & Hawk tuah for world news. 🤷♂️ those millions of people don't wanna her difficult truth they want eat slop after they get off the clock.
It'd marketed as get rich fast with little effort and if I learned anything, most people love money, and hate effort and research so its very easy too fall into
Of course it's greed. The same thing, writ large, that has reasonably intelligent folks responding to the "I'm a bank manager and my client with the same last name as yours died blah blah 50 million dollars blah blah." Greed kills brain cells.
If a man gets shot, it’s sad. If a man gets shot by an orangutan after giving said orangutan a gun while smugly telling countless people that giving an orangutan a gun is a good idea, actually, it’s funny. There have been countless warnings about cryptocurrencies for years, this is on them
You have to live a certain amount of time before you see idioms like "there's a sucker born every minute" and you go ohhh so that's all the time, that's not just 1920s lingo
Because a very large percentage of Americans have undiagnosed tbi or tbi like conditions or dementia or dementia like conditions or tbi or tbi like conditions
Real answer? Headlines are extremely bullish on crypto. Trump is trying to establish a DOGE department. Bitcoin hit $100K. I don't think it's a stretch that some people would fall for new stuff.
Anyone still into crypto is already a fool but if someone genuinely thinks a minor celebrity who is on the fumes of their 15 minutes of fame isn't going to scam you I have a bridge to sell them.
Because some people are just that stupid, simple as. We have a whole slew of people who voted based purely on who was on Joe Rogan and was in the most memes. Is it really that shocking that these same idiots lost money to goddamn Hawk Tuah?
Not all, but I have to believe the correlation between economic instability and their willingness to say "this seems like a scam, but what do I stand to lose" desperation has always been a scammers bread and butter.
really? Lets say Crypto is indeed all a scam (which I don't believe) but you cant understand why in this economical climate someone would want to invest for a chance to better themselves...even if its a lotto card chance
But certain facts must be available to a smart gambler. Nevada casinos are required to pay a certain percentage in winnings, and they are audited by the Nevada Gaming Commission. Fair enough. Oklahoma Indian casinos have a similar payout requirement, but cannot be audited. Hmmm...
But onion, what if it’s not a rug pull this time and I actually get rich! Have you even considered that maybe the crypto people are sincere and truly want us all to get rich 🙂
It will bring the next big crash. And it is the incoming administrations plan to rape and pillage as it crashes to the ground. All these billionaires who will be serving as staff or cabinet can’t wait to manipulate everything in their favor and leave the rest of us in the dirt.
Why do people gamble, do lottery etc.
If you put healthcare, homes, rent, basic items for existing further out of reach people will clutch at any falling straw.
Oh, you know ... people are human (not totally sure regarding some of them but I'm fairly certain) unless they're pod people. Can't quite figure out the current insanity levels, tho
one reason (among others) is that it became a culture war. rather than a united front against an obvious scam, predominantly conservative/libertarian tech bros and idolized weirdos like elon fooled enough gullible people ideologically aligned with their message that opposition to crypto is "woke".
One thing I have to admit to Elon is that paywalling checkmarks are really smart in hindsight. Literally a self-selection process for the dumbest fucks in the world all to the top of every comment section, all who will of course love him and his politics.
because they genuinely think they'll make money off of it, like, they think "if i'm the first to buy into it, i'll make money and the others won't" but, the only one making money is the person who made the fucking shitcoin, and no matter how many times they get scammed they get right back to it
Back in my day you had to at least attend a seminar for a free Bluetooth speaker to get scammed into believing selling knives Door-To-Door was a lucrative Business opportunity
Society, media, they all send the signal that if we are not rich, we are not of worth. And hard work is rarely enough to get there the way society is set up. People get desperate.

They don't wanna be left behind if the promised miracle ever happens.
Plus, most of them are not that bright.
I am sad about losing that BTC.
(😂)
It’s not a scam, it just hasn’t been explained well enough, you just don’t understand.
And somehow that continues to work for them.
And I don't know a single person who hasn't been fucked over in the last decade, in some way. Lot of desperate people around these days
greed, desperation, gullibility, or a combination of any of the three.
If you put healthcare, homes, rent, basic items for existing further out of reach people will clutch at any falling straw.
Also Crypto Bro: "I've just been scammed! Why isn't this thing regulated!?"
there was no mainstream political movement to defend the "nigerian prince scam". if there had been, it wouldn't be the go-to obvious scam reference.
stupid
