I'm actually very sure that if Elon Musk did come out and admit that, yes, in fact, he's a nazi and this was the message of the gesture, legacy media (that he regularly explicitly condemns) would still try their hardest to mitigate the political consequences for him.

"woke" and "dei" were always ever used by fascists as replacements for words they weren't allowed to say.
Just replace them by either the applicable bigoted curse word in any fash text or "women and minorities", and you'll know the true meaning.

I interned at a nexstar station, it was the only opportunity I really had. 2nd to last day I was talking to a coworker who worked at a station a while. Even the people on camera are seen as expendable. People behind the scenes did multiple jobs, the camera operators had been automated out too.
