Massachusetts girl here (15 min north of Boston). We always called them subs. Though, it might be because I’m old. I recently found some young MA people who call tonic “soda.” Shudder!
I am so guilty of this. When I met my husband, he said he was from “Westford.” I responded, “do you mean Weston?” If it was outside the 128 belt, I didn’t know it. 😬
OK, but full disclosure, a lot of us in western mass kind of view the state as us, then Worcester, then everything east of Worcester is Boston or greater Boston. And then the Cape.
