A US military officer making an obvious statement of fact - that Denmark is a good ally - is now a fireable offence. Wrongthink will not be tolerated. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/creq99l218do

Interesting question. Vance is more cunning but he's got his head so far into cyberlibertarian pulp that his rational and reflexive thinking is deformed. I guess Trump is stupid. Vance is dumb.
Our people in Greenland will be the ones who pay for this stupidity. People who considered them allies now have to think of them as possible war enemies they may have to fight to keep their land. π‘π‘π‘
JD Vance is right. Greenland is far better off under the US than Denmark. Denmark has free healthcare and free college. Their minimum wage is $25/hr and people work 35 hrs a week. What the US offers its people in quality of life is far superior than Denmark.
There was that awkward photo of the Vances beside the base commander, and one might get the impression she doesn't suffer fools gladly and was currently being forced to do so.
I hate what the Trumpists are, but your comment here is not indicative of the comment βwhat I do know is the concerns of the US administration discussed by Vice-President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Baseβ.
That is a pretty direct refutation of the political leadership.
β Denmark had "not done a good job" for Greenlanders and had not spent enough on securityβ really? Can anyone tell me the last time Greenland was attacked? Besides when Vance went. Luckily the Greenlanders were able to protect their homes by telling Vance and his wife they were not welcome.
Exactly what the military views are, No politics in the military! Like General Milley that apologized to the public for allowing himself to get involved in Trumpβs political stunt with the Bible photo ops, last term! π
She's seen as a local obstacle against oncoming actions ("subversive for the troops", ...). At the same time, this is supposed to serve as a warning. (Quote from another time: "Either you are with us, or you are with the enemy.")
For us others: The Greenland saga has not ended. Beware.
It seems right to me that publicly defying the President or VP is a fireable offense for military leadership. It only seems wrong here bc the Pres and VP have insane and indefensible beliefs
I know it sucks but it is not the duty or purview of a serving officer to comment on public relations with a foreign government.
At best, her statement should have merely said we look forward to working with Denmark on continued shared security.
I hate Trump and his ilk as much as one can.
This is complete utter bullshit! Vance is a giant man child with a super fragile ego. He was wrong and the smart patriotic Colonel set him straight!
Grow up Vance you chipmunk cheeks moron!
Honestly, how else are you supposed to deal with a Colonel saying in public that the Commander in Chief is wrong? The only good solution was to not elect a mad Commander in Chief.
I despise Trump/Vance, and to quietly let it go or admonish in private would've been wiser. But yes, this is borderline insubordination. If she said something like "I don't know politics, I'll just say we get along fine with the Danes here on base" then that would be ok.

No such thing as bad press.
No such thing as constructive criticism.
He has to ensure that only the loyal will be in Washington when he orders martial law.
Hopefully she gets reinstated with compensation.

A wiser administration would've admonished or limited the punishment. This one lost us an officer.
