I believe GB can do as well outside EU as from the inside. Its more about what you have to offer to the customer. GB can very well do the same amount of trade outside EU, but you need to have other connections as well. Defence industry is growing, perfect opportunity for GB.
I think its a pretty easy choice. GB is outside EU, thats the situation and thats what GB needs to adapt to. Spending ten years discussing if you are outside or inside EU will make the train leave the station while people tries to win a discussion.
Well, get it done. Spending endless years discussing EU will only tear the country apart. It has become a principle for people to say yes or no to EU, and principles does not create good decisions. In the meantime is China making the coffin for Europa.
It doesn't feel like a minor foot injury. Reckon they should do a few surveys to guage the nation and rejoin the single market at least. Reckon EU and GB are better off together
And Brexit was arguably run by more competent and well intentioned individuals than our experiment in economic retranchment.
“more competent and well intentioned” relative to Trump is a very easy bar to exceed.
But who could have possibly predicted that leaving the world’s largest trading bloc and telling them to get stuffed while on the way out would affect exports?
The one saving grace is the Tories paying the price for it now, unlike in the US, where even hundreds of thousands of excess deaths during Covid due to the Trump admin were immediately forgotten.
I’m sure Putin is very happy with his covert financial and propaganda support for the Brexit campaign and now also with his 2nd win for the Trump campaign 😫
If you think that's bad, wait until the Trump billionaire triad of he, Musk & Ramaswamy take over the US government, are busy destroying everything, and the UK is living in its post-Brexit fantasy world of some great US-UK supertrade agreement.
Have pity on our souls, all of us.
Not in the least bit surprised. Cross channel freight volumes are 20% lower than pre-Brexit. That’s partly down to lower automotive production & the move to electric vehicles but Brexit a major cause.
Which gave us another typically ridiculous chapter in the long line of Brexit absurdity and lies, with Putin apologist Matthew Elliot declaring that black is white , 2+2 = 17, pigs can fly , and Brexit has been ‘good for the U.K.’ on BBC R4 yesterday.
I understand we want to paint Brexit in a negative light but the graph showing the drop is disingenuous as it coincides with the pandemic. Here’s the economist showing that the g7 all took a similar or even more severe hits
I agree the deviation is worry some but my point was that we shouldn’t just attribute the deviation from the trend line completely to Brexit when we know that there was another major event that occurred in the same period.

I feel sorry for the UK and hope that hole they shot in their collective foot heals one day.
I almost did it myself, but then I thought of all of my sweet American cousins & thought no. Just no.
Stupid seems to be universal.

Brexit paid dividends - for a very select few.
